April 8, 2023 – STARS 2 vs. GOLDEN KNIGHTS 1 (shootout)
The Stars extended their winning streak to three games and swept the three-game season series against the Golden Knights with a 2-1 shootout victory in front of a sellout crowd of 18,532 at American Airlines Center on Saturday. Forward Joel Kiviranta (1-0—1) scored with the equalizer in the second period with his eighth goal of the season, forward Roope Hintz tallied the lone goal in the shootout and goaltender Jake Oettinger made 19 saves and all three in the shootout to seal the win for Dallas. The Stars went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill, dished out 29 hits and won 56% of the faceoffs.

  • The Stars have clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight year, 18th time since relocating to Dallas in 1993-
    94 and 35th time in franchise history. Dallas became the 10th team to clinch a berth in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
  • With a victory on April 6 vs. Philadelphia, the Stars (43-21-14, 100 points) secured a 100-point season for the 10th time in franchise history and first since 2015-16 (109 points). Each of the previous 10 times the franchise has reached the century mark have come since the team relocated to Dallas ahead of the 1993-94 season.
  • Dallas is in a three-way battle for the top spot in the Central Division and currently ranks second behind Colorado.

TONIGHT’S GAME: The Stars embark on their final road trip of the regular season beginning this evening against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena (6 p.m. CT, TV: Bally Sports Southwest Extra, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). Three games remain in the 2022-23 regular season campaign for the Stars, who are neck and neck with Colorado and Minnesota for the top spot in the Central Division. Following tonight’s game, the Stars will take on the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Wednesday before wrapping up the regular season on Thursday at home against the Blues. Following that game, the Stars will begin their quest for the Stanley Cup.
