BACK-TO-BACK ON THE ROAD
The Blue Jackets close out a stretch of four-of-five games played away from Nationwide Arena from Nov. 4-12 on Sunday at the NY Rangers. The team kicked off its second of 13 back-to-back sets of the campaign with a 5-4 loss at Detroit on Saturday. CBJ swept their first back-to-back set of the campaign, 3-1 over Calgary on Oct. 20 and 5-4 in overtime at Minnesota on Oct. 21. It’s the first of three back-to-backs in the month of November (Nov. 18 at Washington/Nov. 19 at Philadelphia and Nov. 26 at Carolina/Nov. 27 vs. Boston).
JACKETS ON THE KILL
Columbus has killed off all 18 opponent power play opportunities over the past seven contests dating back to Oct. 28 after denying Detroit on all three of its attempts on Saturday. The club ranks third in the NHL in penalty kill percentage this season at 88.4 pct. (38-of-43) and lead the League in penalty kill percentage since Oct. 10 (93.8 pct.), killing off 30-of-32 opponent power play chances over the last 11 games.
BLOCK IT LIKE IT’S HOT
CBJ has been credited with 65 blocked shots over the past three games, including the now fifth-highest total in a game this season with 30 in Monday’s game at Florida. It was also tied for the second-most (third time) blocked shots in a single game in franchise history (stats kept since 2005-06), trailing only 34 blocked shots registered on Mar. 17, 2012 at Vancouver. The club ranks second in the NHL in blocked shots-per-60 minutes (19.31) and third in blocked shots this season (274). Defenseman Erik Gudbranson leads the team and ranks ninth-T among all NHL skaters in blocked shots in 2023-24 with 36. He has posted 1-3-4 and seven blocked shots in the last five games, including his fourth career multi-assist outing with two assists last Monday at Florida.

– The New York Rangers finish their three-game homestand with their second contest of the season against the Columbus Blue Jackets (7:00 PM ET – TV: MSG Network – Radio: ESPN 1050 AM). – New York’s next game after tonight will come on Saturday, Nov. 18 in New Jersey and its next home game is November 25 against Boston. – The Rangers have points in nine-straight games (8-0-1) and are 4-1-0 at home. With a point against Columbus, they will match their season-long streak from last year (10 GP – Jan. 12 – Feb. 18, 2023). On 17 occasions in franchise history have the Blueshirts had a point streak of 10 games or more. – In the NHL, New York has the third most wins (10) and points (21). – It is the fourth time in team history the Blueshirts have won at least 10 of their first 13 games of a season (2023-24, 2016- 17, 2008-09, 1990-91). – The Rangers have the NHL’s second best power play percentage (35.7) and have scored power play goals in 11 of their first 13 games. The Rangers’ 15 power play goals are the fourth most in the league. On the flip side, the Blueshirts’ 86.4 penalty kill percentage is tied for sixth in the league.
