Martinook’s streak is the sixth three-game point streak of his NHL career, tied for his career long (last: 4/24/22- 4/2822: 2g, 1a), while Fast’s is one game shy of tying his season-long from 2021-22 (4/18-4/24: 2g, 2a).

KOOCHIE GANG
Pyotr Kochetkov stopped all 27 shots he faced at CHI (11/14) to record his first career NHL/Hurricanes shutout. He required the fewest games of any goaltender in franchise history to post his first career shutout, besting the 10 games needed by Alex Nedeljkovic (2017- 21). With the win, Kochetkov also improved to 5-0-0 in his NHL regular-season career, becoming the first goaltender in franchise history and just the 12th netminder in NHL history to win each of his first five career regular-season appearances. Only eight goalies have ever extended their career-opening win streak to six games: Frank McCool (TOR, 1944), Ken Dryden (MTL, 1971), Wayne Thomas (MTL, 1973), Bob Froese (PHI, 1983), Damian Rhodes (TOR, 1991-93), Martin Jones (LAK, 2013), Frederik Andersen (ANA, 2013) and Spencer Knight (FLA, 2021).

Jaccob Slavin tallied his third assist of the season vs. EDM (11/10) and has now recorded 211 points (36g, 175a) in his NHL/Hurricanes career. Slavin also has registered two takeaways at CHI (11/14), and he has now posted two or more in 10 of 16 games this season. Slavin’s 29 takeaways in 2022-23 are 13 more than any other Hurricanes skater (Brady Skjei: 16). He has led the Hurricanes in takeaways in five of his seven previous NHL seasons, and since he entered the league in 2015-16, he paces all NHL defensemen in that category (508).
