— The Hurricanes and Stars are meeting for the 95th time in their regular-season histories. Carolina holds a 37-46-6-5 overall record, including a 15-24-2-4 road record.

Despite a quick start with the game’s opening tally just 1:48 into the contest, the Stars saw their two-game winning streak end in a 3-2 overtime defeat to the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Captain Jamie Benn (1-0—1) scored his 19th goal of the season on the power play to give Dallas a 1-0 lead. Then, with the Stars trailing 2-1 in the third period, forward Jason Robertson (1-0—1) tallied his team-leading 32nd goal to even the score at two goals apiece. Forward Joe Pavelski (0-2—2) registered a two-point night and Roope Hintz (0-1—1) got on the score sheet in his first game back after missing seven in a row with an upper-body injury. Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 22 saves on 25 shots in the OT setback.

DALLAS STARS NOTES
TONIGHT’S GAME: The Stars host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at American Airlines Center for the only time during the regular season. (7:30 p.m. CT, TV: Bally Sports Southwest, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). This is the second and final meeting of the 2022-23 campaign between the two clubs, which opened with a 5-4 overtime victory for the Canes on Dec. 17, 2022 at PNC Arena. This is the third game of a four-game homestand leading into the Stars’ bye week (Jan. 28-Feb. 5) which overlaps with a pause from Feb. 2-5 for the 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend. Following the break, the Stars will play four in a row at American Airlines Center before hitting the road for a game in Minnesota on Feb. 17.
