The Flames continued their first Eastern road trip as they headed to the Prudential Center on Tuesday night to face the New Jersey Devils. Nazem Kadri recorded his team-leading seventh goal to open the scoring and the Flames skated into the break leading 1-0. The Devils scored two unanswered in the second to make it 2-1 through 40. Toffoli would tie the game with a power play goal 5:13 into the third, but Nico Hischier would score later in the frame and New Jersey would hang on for a 3-2 win.

This is the first of two matchups this season between the Flames and Bruins. The two teams split the season-series in 2021-22. This is a Pacific Division versus Atlantic Division matchup; The Flames have an overall record of 0-1-0 against Atlantic Division opponents this season and a record of 2-2-2 against Eastern Conference opponents.

KADRI’S HOT START:
Through the opening 12 games this season, Nazem Kadri has set a new personal best after he recorded his seventh goal on Tuesday night in New Jersey. He previously recorded six goals in 12 games to start the 2017-18 campaign as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His seven goals also lead the Flames, to go along with a team high 12 points.

POWER PLAY PROFICIENCY:
After going 2/4 on the power play in New Jersey thanks to tallies from Nazem Kadri and Tyler Toffoli, the Flames boast the NHL’s best road power play (as of Nov. 9) at 37.5%. Kadri leads the team with two power play goals away from the Saddledome.

DENNIS DEBUT:
After getting called up on Nov. 6, Dennis Gilbert made his Calgary Flames debut against the Devils on Tuesday logging over 11 minutes. The 26-year-old joined the Flames organization in July of this summer and played in eight games with the Calgary Wranglers (AHL) before getting called up. It was his first NHL game since February 16, 2021 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.

RING OF FIRE:
Heading into Thursday night’s contest, the Flames have knocked off the Bruins in their last two trips to TD Garden, outscoring Boston 9-2 in the process. Mikael Backlund leads the way with three goals in the two contests and in last season’s meeting Dan Vladar recorded his second shutout as a Flame with a 27 save effort.
