LAST GAME: Dec. 31, 4-2 loss at Detroit: Detroit scored four answered goals to emerge with a 4-2 victory at Little Caesars Arena. The game was the Red Wings’ third multi-goal comeback win of the season, the second most in the NHL so far this year. Ottawa saw a 2-0 lead realized on goals from Michigan native Watson and Giroux before Suter began Detroit’s run at 8:42 of the second period. Raymond, Soderblom and Rasmussen also provided offence for the home side as Detroit’s three goals in the opening 3:13 of the third period marked the club’s fastest three goals to start a period since 2/9/93. Batherson provided an assist for the Senators to extend his point streak to 13 games, tied for the third-longest in club history. Former Senator Hellberg earned the win for Detroit in turning aside 21 shots while Talbot made 21 saves in taking the loss for Ottawa.
