The Islanders captured a 6-2 victory at PNC Arena on October 28, as Mathew Barzal and Brock Nelson each recorded multi-point games. The Islanders finished the 2022-23 regular season with a 16-8-2 record against Metropolitan Division, one of three teams (Carolina, New Jersey) to collect at least 16 intra-division wins in the Metro. The Islanders and Hurricanes have combined for three Conference Final appearances in the past four years (2019, 2020 and 2021).
