SEVERAL STREAKS CAN CONTINUE DURING THURSDAY’S 12-GAME SLATE
The Islanders are back on ESPN+ following their nine-goal outburst on the network Tuesday, and this time they’ll be facing the Predators. The 12 game-slate will also feature Sidney Crosby and the Penguins looking to win a sixth straight game as well as Connor McDavid aiming to match the longest point streak of his career.

* The Islanders are coming off a 9-0 victory that saw Anthony Duclair score a hat trick and post his first career five-point game. In the past 30 years, the most goals New York has scored in a two-game span is 16 (Feb. 11-13, 2011). Matthew Schaefer also found the score sheet Tuesday to extend his point streak to four contests. After beginning his career with a six-game point streak, Schaefer can become the second 18-year-old in the past 30 years with multiple five-game runs in a single season; he would join Crosby (4x in 2005-06; longest: 10 GP).

* Crosby is riding a seven-game point streak, which includes multiple points in his past three outings, and has led his club to five straight wins – they can push that stretch to six for the first time since a seven-game run from Dec. 1-15, 2022. The Penguins captain also enters Wednesday one back of tying Ron Francis (581) for the third-most go-ahead goals factored on in NHL history as Pittsburgh (20-12-9, 49 points) looks to hit 50 standings points in 42 games or fewer for the first time since 2021-22 (38 GP).
* McDavid’s hat trick in his last outing brought his totals during his current 16-game point streak to 17-22—39 as he aims to match the longest run of his career tonight (17 GP in 2022-23 & 2021-22). The Oilers captain can become the third active player to collect 40 points during a point streak, alongside Crosby and Patrick Kane (2x), and can become the first Edmonton player to achieve the feat since Wayne Gretzky (44 in 16 GP from Jan. 11 – Feb. 8, 1987).
