With last year’s Week 3 win over the Chiefs, the Chargers are riding a two-game winning streak in Kansas City. Seven of the past 12 games in the series at Kansas City \have been decided by seven or fewer points. The teams have split the four Thursday Night Football matchups in the series. Los Angeles has an all-time record of 11-10-1 in games played on Thursday.

The Chargers defense was suffocating in the Week 1 win over Las Vegas, featuring six sacks and three interceptions. Khalil Mack led the way with three sacks against his former team, including a strip-sack, while Joey Bosa added 1.5 sacks and a stripsack. The Bolts had three different players pick off a pass for the first time in a Week 1 contest since 1966. On offense, Justin Herbert tossed three touchdowns to three offseason acquisitions and the offensive line did not allow a sack on the day.

Kansas City’s offense features Patrick Mahomes, who threw for five touchdowns and 360 yards in their win over Arizona in Week 1. He connected with tight end Travis Kelce eight times for 121 yards and a score, while finding running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for a pair of touchdowns through the air.

The Chargers return home to host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 before going on back-to-back road games to Houston and Cleveland. Kickoff next week is at 1:05 pm PT on Sun., Sept. 25 from SoFi Stadium

The Matchup
WR Keenan Allen
• Needs 16 receiving yards to be the fifth player to total 6,000 receiving yards since the start of the 2017 season. • Needs two touchdown catches to reach 50 for his career. • Needs 139 receiving yards on third down to be the first player to haul in 3,000 third-down receiving yards since he entered the NFL in 2013.

OLB Joey Bosa
• With a half-sack, would reach 60.0 for his career and become the seventh player since he entered the NFL in 2016 to do so over that span. • Needs two more strip-sacks to reach 15 for his career and be the sixth player since 2016 to do so. • With one more on third down, he would be the first player to reach 10 career strip-sacks on third down since he came into the NFL in 2016.

CB Bryce Callahan
• Needs an interception for his first career back-to-back games with a pick. Two interceptions would tie a single-season career high.

RB Austin Ekeler
• Needs 11 rushing yards to pass Don Woods (2,858) for No. 8 on the team’s all-time rushing list. • Needs a touchdown catch to reach 25 for his career. At 27 years, 121 days old, he would be the youngest running back in the common draft era (since 1967) to reach 25 touchdown catches. • Needs two receiving touchdowns to become the only running back with multiple touchdown catches in each of their first six professional seasons in the common draft era (since 1967).

QB Justin Herbert
• Needs 371 passing yards to reach 10,000 for his career to tie Patrick Mahomes (34 games) as the fastest to reach that mark in NFL history. • Needs one passing touchdown to extend his streak of games with a touchdown pass to 23 consecutive, tying for the third-longest streak in team history.

CB J.C. Jackson
• Needs three defensive takeaways to reach 30 for his career. His 27 career takeaways are the most by any NFL defender since he entered the league in 2018.

S Derwin James Jr.
• Needs an interception to be the fifth NFL defensive back to have at least six picks and six sacks since he entered the professional ranks in 2018.

OLB Khalil Mack
• Needs 0.5 sacks to become the fifth player to reach 80 sacks since he entered the NFL in 2014. He would also be the only NFL player over that span to have 80 sacks and multiple interceptions returned for a touchdown. • Needs one strip-sack to reach 20 for his career and become just the second defender since he entered the NFL in 2014 to reach that mark.

WR Mike Williams
• With a scrimmage touchdown, will have scored seven times at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, breaking a tie for the most ever by a visiting player at the venue (Hall of Fame RB LaDainian Tomlinson, TE Antonio Gates, Hall of Fame WR Marvin Harrison and WR Eric Decker). • A touchdown catch would be his sixth, tying Gates, Harrison and Decker for the most ever at the venue by a visiting player.
