In 40 games, Crosby has recorded 18 goals, 39 assists and 57 points, and has only been held off the scoresheet 11 times. Of those 40 games, 19 of them have been multi-point efforts (47.5%). Crosby’s 1.50 points-per-game average against the Jets is tied for his fourth highest versus any one team:

QUICK STRIKE
Sidney Crosby scored the first goal of the game on Thursday night in Minnesota, giving him goals in back-to-back games (3G-2A) and points in five of his last six games overall (4G-5A). Crosby’s goal marked the fourth time this season that he has scored the opening goal of the game, which is tied for first in the NHL: Per NHLPR, Crosby’s opening goal was the 100th of his career, making him one of two active players along with Alex Ovechkin (134) to score 100 or more game-opening goals.

MORE CROSBY
Sidney Crosby led Pittsburgh to its fourth-straight game with a point on the road (3-0-1) with his four-point performance (2G-2A) on Thursday night in Minnesota. It marked the 163rd three-plus point game of his career, surpassing Gordie Howe (162 GP) for sole possession of the 10th most three-point games in NHL history. He now sits one shy of tying Jari Kurri (164 GP) for ninth on the all-time list. Crosby has more games in his career with multiple points (426) than he does games with zero points (328). Since Nov. 5, Crosby ranks fifth in the NHL (tied) in points

GAME-WINNING GINNER
Brock McGinn found the back of the net again on Thursday night, giving him goals in four of his last five games (4G) and seven points (4G-3A) in his last eight contests. His goal doubled as the game-winner, as he’s now scored the game-winning goal in each of Pittsburgh’s last three wins. McGinn’s three game-winning goals are a new career high and tied with teammate Jake Guentzel (and multiple other players) for first in the NHL.

PITTSBURGH’S PK
Pittsburgh’s penalty killing unit went a perfect 3-for-3 on Thursday in Minnesota and has killed off eight of its last nine penalties over the last three games. Below is a look at Pittsburgh’s penalty kill by month, which has made steady improvement. Pittsburgh also has two shorthanded goals which is tied for ninth in the NHL.

BLUE JACKETS NOTES
NICE TO SEE YOU, NOVEMBER
The Blue Jackets have picked up points in four-straight games overall and wins in three consecutive home contests following a 6-4 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. Columbus kicked off a season-high six-game homestand earlier this week on Tuesday vs. the Flyers with games played from November 15-25. It’s part of a stretch of eight-of-10 games played at Nationwide Arena from November 10-28. The club plays five consecutive contests against Atlantic Division teams from November 17-25, including twice against the Canadiens on Nov. 17 and 23.

TWO DIFFERENT STRETCHES
Nine of the club’s first 12 games were competed against teams that made the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including facing off against the Stanley Cup champion Avalanche twice and Stanley Cup finalist once (Tampa Bay Lightning). Three of the next four games will be played against teams that failed to make the postseason.

THE COMEBACK BLUE JACKETS
Columbus earned victories when trailing by multiple goals in back-to-back wins over Vancouver (2-0) on Oct. 18 and Nashville (2-0 and 3-1) on Oct. 20. It was the fifth time in franchise history that the team has earned consecutive multi-goal comeback wins (MR: Feb. 8- 10, 2022). These victories have a familiar feeling to the club’s wins in 2021-22 when CBJ set a franchise record after coming back at some point in the game in 23 of their 37 wins. The club finished sixth in the NHL in comeback victories last season. The team also trailed only Florida (11) with nine come-from-behind victories when trailing heading into the third period.

FROM THE BLUELINE
CBJ blueliners have recorded three-plus points in each of the last three games, including 0-4-4 in Thursday’s game vs. the Canadiens. They now have 7-16-23 in the last 10 outings and 11-22-33 in 16 games this season, ranking fifth-T in the NHL in goals. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson tallied two assists on Thursday for his first multi-point game as a Blue Jacket as well as his third career multi-assist and seventh career multi-point effort. He is now one point from 100 for his NHL career with 27-72-99 in 656 games. Vladislav Gavrikov notched his second career overtime winner and fifth career game-winning goal on Tuesday, finishing with 1-1-2, while also skating in a career-high 28:40 TOI (previous 28:20 on Apr. 22, 2022 vs. OTT). He became the fifth different defenseman in NHL history to score each of his first two or more goals of a season in overtime and is also one off the franchise record for overtime goals by a defenseman in a single season (3; Seth Jones, 2016-17 & 2018-19).

ROOKIE REPORT
The club’s rookies, currently consisting of forwards Liam Foudy and Kent Johnson along with defensemen Nick Blankenburg, Marcus Bjork and Jake Christiansen have had a strong start to the season, combining for 6-11-17 in 16 games. They have helped CBJ rank third-T among NHL teams in goals and fifth in points. Johnson, who was selected fifth overall at the 2021 NHL Draft, ranks second among NHL rookies in points-per-game (.62; min 5 GP), fourth-T in goals and fifth-T in points with 3-5-8 in 13 games. He tallied an assist on Thursday for his second-straight game and has registered 3-4-7 in his past 10 contests played, including recording goals in three-straight games from Oct. 22-25 (3-0-3) and points in four consecutive outings from Oct. 20-25 (3-1-4). Bjork tallied points in his first two NHL games after scoring his first career goal in his NHL debut on Saturday and picking up his first career assist on Tuesday vs. Philadelphia. He is the first blueliner and seventh player overall in franchise history to score in his debut.

CAPTAIN BOONE JENNER
Boone Jenner registered his third multi-point game of the season on Thursday vs. Montreal with 1-1-2, giving him goals in two-straight games (3-1-4) and four consecutive home outings (6-1-7). He has collected multiple points in each of the past three contests at Nationwide Arena and now has 6-2-8 in the last six contests overall. The forward is tied for fifth in the NHL in goals scored at home this season with 7-4-11 in 10 outings and ranks 10th in the NHL in faceoff wins (183-of-332 faceoffs; 55.1 pct.). The 29-year-old, who was selected 37th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft, is the longest-tenured Blue Jacket in his 10th season with the club, including his second as the team’s captain. The forward skated in his 600th career game on Nov. 4 vs. Colorado, becoming just the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise. With his second goal in Tuesday’s game, Jenner notched his 150th career goal with the Blue Jackets and became the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise, joining Rick Nash (289) and Cam Atkinson (213). He also ranks fifth on the franchise’s all-time list in points (296).

RK PLAYER TOTAL GP SEASONS WITH CBJ

  1. Rick Nash 674 2002-12 (9 seasons)
  2. Cam Atkinson 627 2011-21 (10 seasons)
  3. Boone Jenner 605 2013-current (10 seasons)
  4. Nick Foligno 599 2012-21 (9 seasons)
  5. David Savard 597 2011-21 (10 seasons)

HERE’S JOHNNY!
Six-time All-Star left wing Johnny Gaudreau, who registered an assist in his second consecutive game on Thursday to give him 1-5-6 in his last six games, leads the club in assists and scoring and ranks second in goals with 6-8-14 in 16 games while recording points in 10 of his contests. The winger has done most of his damage at home with 6-6-12 in 11 outings, ranking eighth-T in the NHL in goals. He had a five-game points streak from Oct. 14-22 (4-3-7) and a five-game home points streak from Oct. 14-25 (4-2-6). It was the third-longest home points-streak to start a player’s tenure in franchise history. He played in his 310th consecutive game on Thursday, the third-longest active iron man streak in the NHL and trailing only Phil Kessel (1,000) and Brent Burns (696). The Salem, New Jersey native, who signed a seven-year contract with Columbus in July, has collected 216-407-623 in 618 NHL games, including a career-high 40-75-115 in 82 games with Calgary last season when he earned First Team All-NHL honors.

TOUGH TO REPLACE Z
Zach Werenski recorded his first multi-point game of the season with 1-1-2 in last Thursday’s win over Philadelphia to extend his points-streak to three-straight games (1-3-4) before leaving the with an upper body injury. Unfortunately, that was the last CBJ will likely see
the club’s top defenseman this regular season as it was announced Friday that he suffered a separated shoulder and torn labrum and likely to miss six months. He led the club’s blueliners in goals, assists and points at the time of the injury with 3-5-8 in 13 games. The two-time NHL All-Star blueliner set single-season career highs in assists, points and time on ice and posted the third-most assists (tied) and points by a defenseman in a single season in franchise history with 11-37-48 and 25:40 TOI in 68 games in 2021-22.

UP IN CLEVELAND
Columbus’ AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, has kicked off the 2022-23 season going 8-5-1 after a 7-3 win at Laval on Friday. The club stretched its points streak to five-straight with the victory (4-0-1) and now sit in second place in the North Division. Right Wing Trey Fix-Wolansky leads the AHL in scoring with 9-12-21 in 13 games after collecting five points on Friday (2-3-5) and 6-7-13 in his last three outings. Kirill Marchenko, who has missed the past two games due to illness, leads AHL rookies in goals and points (tied) with 8-6-14 in 12 contests. HOMECOMING:
This will be the first time Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar will return to Florida and play the Panthers since the blockbuster trade that brought them both to Calgary this summer. ROAD TRIP:
This is the Flames longest road trip of the season with the club playing six games in 10 days. The team started in Tampa on Thursday and after their contest against Florida the Flames head to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, before finishing up with a back-to-back against Washington and Carolina in a pair of matinee games.
