World Cup Preview: Croatia at Brazil

It’ll be a battle between two powerhouses on Friday as Croatia vs Brazil is the first game of the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals at Education City Stadium. Croatia was the runner-up in 2018 while Brazil is the top-ranked nation in the world. These two have met only twice in competitive games and Brazil triumphed each time. The last time it happened was at the 2014 World Cup when Neymar scored two goals.

Brazil opened as the slight favorite at -125 on the moneyline with Croatia coming in right behind them at -105. The total was set at 2.5 goals with the UNDER going 9-1 in Brazil’s last 10 matches. The two nations have met just four times overall with Brazil going 3-1-0 in those matches – a nod to the favorites for your Croatia vs Brazil prediction.

Livakovic Plays The Hero For Croatia In Penalties
Croatia didn’t have its best showing in the Round of 16 but eventually got past Japan in penalties, winning 1-1 (3-1). The Japanese took the lead early in the first half thanks to a goal in the 43rd minute from Daizen Maeda. Ivan Perisic responded for Croatia in the 55th minute but neither team could conjure another goal. Goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was the hero for Croatia in penalties, stopping three of four shots to send his team to the quarterfinals.

While the Croats are through to the final eight, they would probably admit that they haven’t played their best football so far in the tournament. Croatia has just five goals through four matches, with four of those coming against Canada, while being held scoreless twice. Brazil has been one of the best defensive teams in Qatar, so Croatia will need to find a way to pick it up.

Brazil Scores Four In First Half To Defeat South Korea
Brazil had its best performance of the World Cup on Monday, steamrolling South Korea 4-1 to reach the quarterfinals. Vinicius Jr. scored just seven minutes in to open the scoring while Neymar scored a penalty six minutes later to blow the game wide open. Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta added goals in the first half as Brazil cruised to victory from there.

The Brazilians have spread the scoring around at this World Cup with five different goal scorers, headlined by Richarlison, who leads the team with three. Vinicius Jr. has also been a standout performer, notching his first goal of the tournament in the Round of 16 while going into the quarterfinals with a team-high two assists. Neymar, who sat out the final two group-stage matches with an ankle injury, also got his first goal of the tournament against South Korea.

Croatia Vs Brazil Game Prop: Total First-Half Goals OVER 1.5 (+173)
While Croatia hasn’t produced many goals in the tournament, they still possess some highly skilled players like Perisic and Luka Modric who can break out at any time. On the other side of the pitch, you’ve got a Brazilian team that’s coming off a four-goal first half, so there could be some fireworks in the opening 45 minutes of this one.

Croatia: Keys To Victory
Outside of a 4-1 win over Canada in their second group-stage match, Croatia has largely looked uninspired at this World Cup. If they’re going to beat Brazil, they’ll need to be more creative and clinical in the attacking third, which means star players like Perisic and Modric will likely need to be difference-makers.

Brazil: Keys To Victory
We saw the best of Brazil in their Round of 16 win over South Korea as they combined their skill and flair with efficiency in the attacking third. If the canary shirts can bring that same level of determination into this match, their skill should lead them into the semifinals.

Brazil is 10-0-1 in its last 11 matches.
Croatia is 9-4-1 in its last 14 matches.
The UNDER is 9-4-1 in Croatia’s last 14 matches.

TONIGHT’S OPPONENT – VANCOUVER CANUCKS
San Jose looks to bounce back from back-to-back losses on Dec. 3 and 4 with game two of their season series against the Vancouver Canucks. The Pacific Division foe defeated the Sharks, 4-3 in overtime, on Nov. 27 at SAP Center at San Jose. Four separate Canucks skaters (Andrei Kuzmenko, Ilya Mikheyev, J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson) all notched two points in the contest. The Canucks enter tonight’s matchup coming off a wild 7-6 overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens, where Vancouver erased a four-goal first period deficit and a 6-5 third period deficit before winning just 13 seconds into overtime. Elias Pettersson emerged as the overtime hero and continues to lead the Canucks in points, while Bo Horvat has already amassed 20 goals this season and Quinn Hughes leads League defensemen in assists with 24. Vancouver is 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

STORYLINES
IN RARE COMPANY…Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson continues to lead NHL defensemen in goals and points, and still stands as
the only defenseman this season to cross the 10-goal threshold. In November, Karlsson became the first Sharks defenseman to reach
20 points in a calendar month with a position-leading 21 points (6g, 15a) in just 15 games. He has factored into 34 of 81 goals scored
for San Jose this season (42.0%). Per NHL PR, the highest-ever rate in the NHL’s modern era (since the 1943-44 season) at which a
defenseman factored into team goals for a season was Bobby Orr at 43.3% in 1969-70.
HERTL HEATING UP…Tomas Hertl scored both of San Jose’s goals in their 2-5 loss in Ottawa on Dec. 3, four days after potting a
pair in a shutout win over Montreal. The forward has now found the scoresheet in 13 of the past 18 games with seven multi-point efforts
in that span. Hertl registered a season-high three points in San Jose’s 11/5 game against the Anaheim Ducks, including a goal and two
assists and has 22 points (6g, 16a) in the team’s previous 21 games dating back to October 20 at the New York Rangers. He had goals
in three consecutive contests for the first time this season from 11/5 – 11/11 and notched his 400th career NHL point on November 11
with an assist. His .89 point-per-game pace (25 in 28) this season is the second highest single-season pace of his career.

IT’S TIMO TIME…Timo Meier ranks T-3rd on the Sharks with 24 points and leads the team with 11 goals since Nov. 1. The winger took sole possession of 10th on the Sharks’ all-time list in goals with a strike on Nov. 10 and ranks second on the Sharks with 12 markers on the season. He logged a five-game goal-scoring streak (11/1 – 11/11, 6g) and found the back of the net in eight of 15 November games. The Swiss forward currently leads the NHL with 132 shots on goal. Last season, Meier rifled off 326 shots on net, the most by any Sharks forward (third most by a Sharks player) in a single season.

CAPTAIN COUTURE…Logan Couture took the team goal-scoring lead with his 13th of the season on Nov. 29 at Montreal, breaking a tie with Timo Meier. The captain posted a career-long five-game goal streak which ended on Nov. 27, finishing one game behind San Jose’s team record of six games. Couture has lit the lamp in nine of the past 14 contests with five multi-point efforts and 16 points (9g, 7a) in that span and he totaled 16 points (9g, 7a) in 14 November contests.

SUPREME SPECIAL TEAMS…The Sharks’ power play has been hot of late, cashing in on 13 of 46 (28.3%) trips to the man-advantage since the start of a six-game home stand on October 25, good for sixth in the NHL in that span. San Jose has gone empty in just eight games in that stretch, including Nov. 10 at St. Louis and Nov. 30 at Toronto when the team had zero power play opportunities and Nov. 17 against Detroit and Nov. 19 against the New York Rangers when they had just one. San Jose’s penalty kill killed off its first 22 penalties of the season before finally allowing a power play goal on Oct. 22 at New Jersey. The Sharks allowed three power play goals on Saturday in Ottawa for the first time in over a year (Feb. 13, 2021 vs VGK) and allowed two the next night but still enter tonight’s contest with the league’s top PK unit at 86.3%. Elsewhere on the road trip, the Sharks posted stout 6-for-6 and 3-for-3 efforts against Montreal and Toronto, respectively. The Maple Leafs had a scorching 28.3% power play at home this season entering Nov. 30’s game. San Jose has been operating at a league-best 86.7% shorthanded efficiency since the 2022 NHL All-Star break, and the Sharks have the league’s second-best penalty kill percentage since the start of the 2020-21 season (83.6-percent).

COMEBACK KIDS…The Sharks overcame a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 shootout victory on November 13 at Minnesota, the team’s first multi-goal comeback win of the season and first since 4/24/22 at Vegas, a 5-4 shootout decision. San Jose has come from behind in four of eight wins on the year, including each contest of a three-game win streak Friday (11/11) at Dallas (trailed 1-0), Sunday (11/13) at Minnesota (trailed 2-0) and Tuesday (11/15) at Vegas (trailed 1-0 and 2-1). San Jose was the first team to earn a win over Vegas when trailing after two periods on the year (the Knights had been 7-0-0). Per NHL PR, the three-game road trip was the first time since March 14-17, 2018 that the Sharks earned three consecutive come-from-behind wins in one road stint.

REIM TIME…Sharks goaltender James Reimer earned his first shutout of the season on Oct. 23 with a 30-save performance at Philadelphia. Reimer’s shutout, his fifth as a Shark, moved him into a tie with Aaron Dell for eighth on the franchise’s all-time shutouts list. He recorded his third 41-save effort of the season on Saturday (11/19) against the New York Rangers, including saves on the first 40 shots he faced in the game. Reimer also owns a .937 shorthanded save percentage since joining the Sharks at the start of the 2021-22 season, the best in the NHL in that span (min. 10 games played) and the best two-season stretch by a goaltender since the NHL began tracking the statistic in 1997-98 (min. 30 games played, second best is Cory Schneider from 2010-12 with a .936 SV% in 58 GP).

GRIER’S GAMEPLAN…On July 5, Sharks president Jonathan Becher and assistant general manager Joe Will introduced Mike Grier as the team’s fifth General Manager and first black general manager in NHL history. The 47-year-old appeared in 221 games with the Sharks from 2006 through 2008 as part of a 14-season, 1,060 game NHL playing career. Just two days later, Grier was with the team as they selected center Filip Bystedt with the 27th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. On July 13, the Sharks traded longtime defenseman Brent Burns and signed Matt Benning, Oskar Lindblom, Markus Nutivaara and Nico Sturm on the first day of free agency. A full list of players under NHL contract that have joined the organization since July 5 is below:

Erik Karlsson’s overtime game-winning goal on Oct. 20 at New York (Rangers), assisted by Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl, was the
first goal the Sharks scored this season that did not feature at least one of Grier’s offseason additions.

QUINN FOR THE WIN…On July 26, Grier introduced David Quinn as Head Coach of the Sharks and later named Scott Gordon, Ryan Warsofsky and Brian Wiseman as Assistant Coaches, Thomas Speer NHL Goaltending Coach and Nick Gialdini Video Coach. Quinn, who most recently served as head coach for Team USA at both the 2022 Winter Olympics and 2022 World Championship, spent three seasons as head coach of the New York Rangers from 2018 to 2021, earning a 96-87-25 record. In his three years, the Rangers held the league’s eighth-best power-play percentage (22.1%), ranked seventh in team blocked shots (4,195) and takeaways (2,244), and were tied for tenth in wins when trailing first (52). Adam Fox, who made his NHL debut under Quinn in 2019-20, was awarded the Norris Trophy following the 2020-21 season. Quinn’s first NHL win was a 3-2 overtime victory against the Sharks at Madison Square Garden with the Rangers on Oct. 11, 2018. GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
December 5 – Vegas Golden Knights 4, Boston Bruins 3 SO
The Vegas Golden Knights (19-7-1) closed their four-game road trip by picking up a 4-3 shootout win against the Boston Bruins (20-3-1) on Monday night at TD Garden. Vegas used goals from Paul Cotter and Jonathan Marchessault to take a 2-0 lead just 5:04 into the contest. Cotter opened the middle period with his second goal of the game just 51 seconds after the drop of the puck. Boston battled back as Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak gave the Bruins life heading into the third. Taylor Hall scored a power-play goal to tie the game at 3-3 and the teams went beyond regulation to find a winner. After a scoreless overtime, the teams went empty through four rounds of the shootout. Logan Thompson shut down Charlie Coyle in the fifth round to set up Reilly Smith’s winning goal to give Vegas the 4-3 triumph.

LAST GAME BY THE NUMBERS

  • Cotter posts the first multi-goal game of his career
  • Marchessault scores to have goals in back-to-back games
  • Shea Theodore recorded two points (2A) to extend his point streak to three games
  • Thompson stopped 40 of 43 shots and was perfect in the shootout
  • Vegas improves to 12-2-1 on the road, the best road record in the NHL

Cotter the Kid
Paul Cotter had his first multi-goal game of his NHL career. With his two-goal performance, Cotter became the third rookie in Golden Knights history to record multiple goals in a game. The rookie was the only Vegas player to score two goals in a game during the four-game road trip and is the only player to do so in the last five games. In the first game of the trip, the Golden Knights entered into a shootout against Columbus and it was Cotter’s tally that secured the win for Vegas. Cotter now has six points (4-2—6) in 17 games this season.

Hey Shea!
Shea Theodore has recorded nine points over the course of Vegas’ last nine games (1-8—9) and ranks eighth amongst defensemen in the league in points so far this season (21). Theodore has had five multi-point games, second to Pietrangelo (six) for the most multipoint games by a Golden Knights defenseman this season.

Rookie of the Month
Logan Thompson had another 40 save night in a shootout victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday. Thompson posted a .930 save percentage in regulation and overtime and then maintained a perfect slate in the shootout. On Dec. 1, Thompson stopped a career best of 43 shots in a 4-3 losing decision in Pittsburgh. Thompson has been strong in net for the Golden Knights and was named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for the month of November after going 8-2-0 with a 2.88 goals-against average, and a .909 save percentage in 10 starts. Monday’s shootout win was the second of Thompson’s career and second on the season after Vegas’ shootout win in Columbus a week prior. Thompson has stopped 86.2% of shootout attempts faced in his career (25-of-29); only Boston’s Linus Ullmark has a better shootout save percentage among active NHL goaltenders who have faced at least 20 attempts in their career. Thompson is second in the league in wins (13) behind Ullmark (14).

Aye-Aye Captain!
Captain Mark Stone has tallied an assist in three consecutive games. Stone is tied for 2nd on the team with points (21) and matched his career-best goal streak with tallies in four straight games Nov. 17-23 (5G-1A). Stone’s nine goals on the year are four off of Eichel’s team lead.

Jack of all Trades
Jack Eichel has points in 15 of the last 19 games for Vegas (10G-12A), including seven multiple-point efforts. His 29 points are tied for 11th in the league and his +17 rating is among the top of all NHL forwards (second overall).

The Iron Man
Phil Kessel (1G, 1A) recorded his first mult-point game as a Golden Knight and his first +2 game, while skating in his 1,008th consecutive NHL contest in Detroit on December 3. Kessel’s multi-point performance was the 238th of his career. The Iron Man reached 1,000 consecutive games on November 17, in a win against the Arizona Coyotes.

Martinez Block Party
Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez leads the NHL with 112 blocked shots in 27 games and is the first player in the league to reach the century mark this season. Martinez has led the team in blocked shots in 19 of 27 games.

Easy Steph-y
Chandler Stephenson has 21 points in Vegas’ 27 games, as well as three game-winning goals. Stephenson’s 63.6 faceoff win percentage ranks second in the NHL among all qualified skaters. Stephenson has recorded a point in five straight games twice this season including seven assists during his most recent point streak.

First Things First
Cotter’s goal in the first period against Boston marked the 18th time Vegas has scored first in a game, for the third consecutive game. The Golden Knights have scored 10 times in the first five minutes of the first period through 27 games, including Cotter’s goal 1:36 into the first period. The Golden Knights are outscoring opponents 33-14 in the opening frame and lead the NHL in first-period goals. Vegas is 15-3-0 when it scores first and 10-3-0 when leading after the first period.

O from the D
Vegas defensemen have accounted for an NHL-leading 57 assists and 66 points total, which trail only San Jose. Both Alex Pietrangelo and Shea Theodore (T-8th, 21 points) are among the top 10 defensemen in scoring league-wide.

The Shorty King
Reilly Smith netted his third shorthanded goal of the season against St. Louis on November 12. Smith leads the league with his three shorties and Vegas is tied for first as the team with four short handed goals. His 11 shorthanded goals since joining Vegas in 2017-18 are the most in franchise history.

Spreading the Wealth
Six Golden Knights have recorded 20 or more points this season, the most of any team in the league. Jack Eichel leads the club with 29 points, followed by, Mark Stone, Chandler Stephenson, Shea Theodore and Alex Pietrangleo all with 21 points each.

The Avalanche won their third Stanley Cup championship in 2022 following 1996 and 2001 … Colorado claimed its title by going 16-4 in the postseason, which included a pair of sweeps and defeating the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning in six games during the Final … The Avs became the sixth team to win a Cup with four or fewer postseason losses since 1987 when the NHL went to four rounds of best-of-seven … And of those six only one team had fewer losses, the 1988 Oilers (two) … The Avalanche did not lose consecutive games all playoffs.

ALL I DO IS WIN WIN WIN NO MATTER WHAT
The 2021-22 Avalanche equaled the NHL record for the most combined regular season/playoff wins with 72 (56 regular season, 16 playoff), a feat only three teams in NHL history had achieved before … The 2021-22 Avalanche joined the 1995-96 Red Wings, 1983-84 Oilers and 1976-77 Canadiens on that list.

RECORD REGULAR SEASON
The 2021-22 Avalanche set a franchise record with 56 wins and 119 points en route to winning their second straight division title and 11th since moving to Denver (13th in franchise history) … It marked the club’s first back-to-back division championships since their NHL-record run of nine straight from 1994-95 to 2002-03 … The Avs clinched the conference’s top spot despite facing a 10-point deficit behind the No. 1 seed on Dec. 3 … The last team to win their conference after overcoming a deficit of 10 or more points was the Rangers in 2014-15 (13) … After sweeping a back-to-back from Arizona on Jan. 15, the Avalanche remained in first place in the West over the final 106 days of the regular season … During a span of over two months from Feb 10–April 19, Colorado was first in the entire NHL for all but one day (68 out of 69)

TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT
The 2021-22 Avalanche posted their best home season in franchise history with a 32-5-4 record (68 points) … Colorado tied Florida for the league lead in home points, ending with the most home points in the NHL for the second straight season after tying Penguins for league lead with 46 in 2020-21 … The Avs are just the third team over the last 30 years to post the league’s best home record in back-to-back seasons (outright or tie), joining the 2016 and 2017 Capitals and the 2007 and 2008 Red Wings … Colorado went 30-3-3 over its final 36 contests at Ball Arena … The Avs posted an 18-game home winning streak from Nov. 11–Jan. 30, the fifth longest run in NHL history … The club had a franchise record 22-game home point streak (20-0-2) from Oct. 30–Feb. 10, the NHL’s longest since 2013-14 (Anaheim, 20-0-2) … Colorado recently completed its best 60-game home stretch in franchise history going 49-5-6 (.867) from March 10, 2021 to October 19, 2022.

AINT NO MOUNTAIN HIGH, AINT NO VALLEY LOW
Colorado’s Stanley Cup championship came five years after a last-place finish in 2016-17 …. The Avs became the fifth team in the expansion era (1967-68) to win a title within five years of a last place finish and the first since the 2009 Penguins … Colorado won the Presidents’ Trophy the previous year in 2020-21, becoming the first NHL team to go from worst to first overall in four seasons or less since the Bruins in 1970-71.

DOWN BUT NEVER OUT
Ten of the Avalanche’s wins during the 2022 postseason were earned in come-from-behind fashion, including four thirdperiod comebacks … Colorado’s 10 comeback wins tied the 2009 Penguins for the most in NHL history … The Avs trailed in all four of their series-clinching victories, the first team in NHL history to do so.

ROAD, SWEET ROAD
The Avalanche finished a league-best 9-1 on the road during the 2022 postseason, tied for the fewest road losses by a Stanley Cup champion since 1987 (the 2012 Kings and 1995 Devils were both 10-1) … Colorado earned all four series-clinching wins on the road.

MAGIC YEAR FOR MAKAR
After becoming the first player in franchise history to win the Norris Trophy in 2021-22, Makar followed that up by winning
the 2022 Conn Smythe as playoff MVP … At 23 years, 239 days, he became the youngest defenseman in 52 years to win the
Conn Smythe and just the third overall to do so at age 23 or younger, joining Bobby Orr with the 1970 Bruins (22 years, 51
days) and Serge Savard with the 1969 Canadiens (23 years, 102 days) … Makar won the Conn Smythe just five days after
receiving his first Norris Trophy … He became the third player to win both awards in the same season, following Orr in 1970
and Nicklas Lidstrom in 2002 … Makar led the Avalanche and all NHL defensemen with 29 points (8g/21a) in 20 games, the
fourth-highest total by a defenseman in Stanley Cup Playoff history behind Paul Coffey (37) with the 1985 Oilers, Brian
Leetch (34) with the 1994 Rangers and Al MacInnis (31) with the 1989 Flames.

IN BEDNAR WE TRUST
Jared Bednar is in his seventh season as the Avalanche’s head coach … Hired on Aug. 25, 2016, he is the third-longest tenured coach in the NHL behind Jon Cooper (March 25, 2013) and Mike Sullivan (Dec. 12, 2015) … Jared led the 2021-22 Avalanche to their most successful regular season in franchise history (56-19-7, 119 points) and continued that into the postseason with a 16-4 playoff mark en route to capturing the 2022 Stanley Cup … Bednar, who won a Calder Cup with the Lake Erie Monsters in 2016 and a Kelly Cup with the South Carolina Stingrays in 2009, became the first individual to win a championship in the NHL, AHL and ECHL as a head coach … He is the winningest coach in Avalanche history with a 253-177-47 (.580) regular season record … Bednar owns a 40-22-1 (.635) record in 63 postseason games, the best playoff winning percentage among active coaches and the third highest all time (min 50 GP) behind Glen Sather (.706) and Toe Blake (.689).

TIP OF CAP
Gabriel Landeskog enters his 12th NHL season and 11th as team captain … Landeskog was the youngest captain in NHL history when he assumed the role at 19 years, 286 days on Sept. 4, 2012, a title he held for four years before Connor McDavid was given the ‘C’ by Edmonton at 19 years, 266 days on Oct. 5, 2016 … Landeskog is the second-longest serving captain in franchise history behind only Joe Sakic (17 seasons, 16 consecutive) … Only three players have been captain of their current teams longer:

Sidney Crosby (PIT) ………………… 16th season (since 2007-08)
Jonathan Toews (CHI) …………….. 15th season (since 2008-09)
Alex Ovechkin (WSH) ……………… 14th season (since 2009-10)
Gabriel Landeskog (COL) …………11th season (since 2012-13)

SUPER JOE ACHIEVES RARE FIRST
General Manager (now President) Joe Sakic, who captained the Avalanche to a pair of titles in 1996 and 2001, became the first individual in league history to win a Stanley Cup as a captain and GM with the same organization … He was just the third to win a championship as a player and general manager with the same franchise, joining Serge Savard of the Canadiens and Milt Schmidt of the Bruins.

A’s select first baseman Ryan Noda in Major League Rule 5 Draft

0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics selected first baseman Ryan Noda from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in the first round of the Major League portion of the Rule 5 Draft, the club announced today. The A’s also chose right-handed pitcher Joelvis Del Rosario from the Pittsburgh organization in the first round of the Triple-A Phase.

Noda was selected from the Triple-A Oklahoma City roster with the second overall pick of the Major League Phase of the Rule 5 Draft. The 26-year-old left-handed hitter was a non-roster invitee with the Dodgers last spring and batted .259 with 25 home runs, 90 RBI, and 20 stolen bases with Oklahoma City this season. Originally selected by the Blue Jays in the 15th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Cincinnati, Noda was traded to Los Angeles on Feb. 23, 2021, as a player to be named later in the Aug. 31, 2020 Ross Stripling trade. Across five minor league seasons, he is batting .264 with a .407 on-base percentage, 94 home runs, 361 RBI, and 58 stolen bases in 555 games as a first baseman and outfielder.

Del Rosario, 21, was selected from the Single-A Bradenton roster in the first round of the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft. The right-hander was signed by Pittsburgh out of the Dominican Republic on Jan. 25, 2018, and is 12-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 51 career games in the Pirates organization. He went 7-4 with a 3.68 ERA with 76 strikeouts and 25 walks in 20 games, including 19 starts, with Bradenton this season.

The A’s did not have any players selected by other organizations in the Major League or Triple-A portions of the draft.

Mahomes is 9-0 in nine career starts against Denver and can become the sixth quarterback since 1970 to win each of his first 10 career starts against an opponent.

Kansas City’s TRAVIS KELCE leads all tight ends this season with 77 receptions and 968 receiving yards, while tying for the league-lead among all players with a career-high 12 touchdown receptions. With 32 receiving yards on Sunday, Kelce will become the first tight end in NFL history with seven career seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards, having reached the mark in each season since 2016.

Since entering the league in 2013, Kelce ranks fifth in the NFL with 9,974 receiving yards. On Sunday, he can become the fifth tight end in ever with at least 10,000 career receiving yards, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer TONY GONZALEZ (15,127), JASON WITTEN (13,046), ANTONIO GATES (11,841) and Pro Football Hall of Famer SHANNON SHARPE (10,060).

With a win at Detroit on Sunday (1:00 PM ET, FOX), Minnesota can clinch their first NFC North title since 2017. They have won nine of their last 10 games, with each win being decided by one score (eight points or fewer).

The Vikings can become the third team ever to win 10 games within a single season by eight points or fewer, joining the 2019 SEATTLE SEAHAWKS and 1978 HOUSTON OILERS.
