New England Revolution Re-Sign Goalkeeper Brad Knighton

Veteran goalkeeper returns as a free agent for record 12th season with the Revolution

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution re-signed free-agent goalkeeper Brad Knighton to a one-year contract. Knighton returns to the Revolution for his 15th MLS campaign and his 12th in a Revolution uniform, the most in club history.

The Hickory, N.C. native has amassed 81 regular season appearances with 78 starts and a 32-26-20 record, with two additional postseason appearances. He is one of five Revolution players to start at least 50 league games in goal for the club. In addition, Knighton ranks second in club history in starts (13) and wins (6) in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Knighton, 36, is in rare company as one of only five players to spend at least 10 seasons in a Revolution uniform along with Diego Fagundez, Shalrie Joseph, Matt Reis, and Chris Tierney. In 2022, Andrew Farrell will join the group as the sixth player to spend 10 seasons in New England.

The Revolution return to action in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League with a Round of 16 series against Haitian side Cavaly AS. The first leg is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6:00 p.m. ET, followed by the second leg at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 6:00 p.m. ET. Both games are available nationally on FOX Sports and TUDN. New England will then kick off the 2022 MLS regular season on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Portland Timbers (7:30 p.m. ET – FOX, FOX Deportes).
