When the Toronto Raptors take on the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, they may be without Scottie Barnes, who has been injured.
With an injured left wrist, Barnes left Sunday’s 118-111 road loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second quarter and did not return.
Tuesday, Barnes was not in practice.
This season, the Raptors’ 21-year-old forward is averaging 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. Last season, he won NBA Rookie of the Year.
Prior to his injury on Sunday, Barnes scored five points in 13 minutes.
This season, the Raptors (35-37) have lost both of their games against the Pacers, both in Indianapolis.
With the Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls, the Raptors begin an important four-game homestand in a three-way battle for eighth, ninth, and tenth place in the Eastern Conference.
Fred VanVleet scored 23 points and O.G. Anunoby added 22 for the Raptors, who had previously won three games, in Milwaukee. After losing 126-118 to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, Toronto missed a chance to climb into eighth place in the Eastern Conference ahead of the Hawks.
When Milwaukee went into the fourth quarter, Toronto led 95-89.
In their 115-109 road defeat of the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, the Indiana Pacers (32-40) gave up a 21-point lead in the second quarter.
At Charlotte, the Pacers were outscored 19-4 in the final six minutes.
The Pacers won their first game of a four-game road trip with 20 points from Myles Turner and Buddy Hield, respectively.
The Hornets scored 35 points after the Pacers, who have lost three of their last four games, turned the ball over 22 times.
Tyrese Haliburton (right ankle sprain), Chris Duarte (left ankle soreness), and Kendall Brown (right tibia stress fracture) were not present for the Pacers’ game.
After missing 11 days due to an injury to his right ankle, Pacers rookie Bennedict Mathurin scored 18 points on Monday.
On Jan. 2, the Pacers defeated the Raptors 122-114 with Mathurin scoring 21 points.
This season, Hield has appeared in all 72 Pacers games.
