This is the second half of a home-and-home set. The Hawks won the first meeting 120-105 on November 4 in Washington.

Current Rosters

Washington Wizards: Trae Young, Anthony Davis, Kyshawn George, AJ Dybantsa (No. 1 overall pick), Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly, Bub Carrington, Tre Johnson, Deandre Ayton, Khris Middleton, Anthony Gill, Will Riley, Tre Mann, Felix Okpara (plus two-ways and injured players). Starters in the Nov. 4 loss typically featured Young, Dybantsa, George, Davis, and Sarr.

Atlanta Hawks: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dyson Daniels, Onyeka Okongwu, CJ McCollum, Luguentz Dort, Aaron Wiggins, Kingston Flemings (rookie, recent starter), Corey Kispert, Zuby Ejiofor, Asa Newell, Jalen Johnson (key injured), Jock Landale (injured), Dorian Finney-Smith, plus others. Recent starters without Johnson have included Flemings, Alexander-Walker, Daniels, Dort, and Okongwu.

Injury Reports

Wizards: Reece Beekman (shoulder, out, re-eval ~Dec. 3); Justin Champagnie (foot surgery, out long-term); Tristan Vukčević (hip, out, possible return ~Nov. 9); Jamir Watkins (ACL, out for season/long-term). Alex Sarr and Anthony Gill were upgraded to available for the Nov. 4 game and are expected available.

Hawks: Jalen Johnson (left ankle sprain, day-to-day/GTD, missed the last two games including Nov. 4; status critical for Friday); Jock Landale (hip strain, day-to-day/GTD); Asa Newell (toe, day-to-day/GTD); Mouhamed Gueye (foot fracture, out ~Nov. 20); Henri Veesaar (ACL, out for season).

Johnson’s availability is the biggest swing factor. Without him, Atlanta relies more on Daniels, Okongwu, Dort, and the bench (which dominated the Nov. 4 win).

Recent Team Forms

Wizards (4-4): Mixed. Recent results include a loss to Atlanta (120-105 on Nov. 4), win at Orlando (103-94), win vs. Charlotte (95-79), loss at Cleveland, and loss at Charlotte. They average ~108.9 PPG scored and ~109.0 allowed. Strong individual efforts from Davis (26 pts, 10 reb in the last game) and George (25 pts) have kept them competitive, but shooting (especially from three) and rebounding have been inconsistent. They snapped a short winning streak against Atlanta.

Hawks (5-4): Stronger recent form with wins in 3 of last 4 (including the 120-105 road win over Washington and a close win at Indiana). They average ~115.8 PPG scored and ~113.0 allowed. Elite rebounding and assist numbers showed in the Nov. 4 win (57 rebounds, 34 assists, 19 threes). Bench production has been a major strength. Home record is still limited early (few home games so far).

Key Player vs. Player Matchups

Trae Young vs. Hawks backcourt (Alexander-Walker / Flemings / McCollum / Dort): Young (facing his former team again after the January trade) had 18 points and 6 assists in the first meeting. Atlanta’s perimeter defenders (especially Dort and Daniels) will try to pressure him and limit transition. Young’s playmaking remains central for Washington.

Anthony Davis vs. Onyeka Okongwu / frontcourt: Davis posted 26 points and 10 rebounds last game. Okongwu countered with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Interior battle and rebounding edge will be huge; Hawks owned the glass 57-41 in the first meeting.

Kyshawn George / AJ Dybantsa vs. Dyson Daniels / Luguentz Dort: George exploded for 25 points last time. Daniels was a two-way force (8 pts, 16 reb, 8 ast). Wing defense and secondary scoring will matter.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker vs. Wizards perimeter: Alexander-Walker led the Hawks with 26 points (6 threes) in the prior win and has been hot from deep.

Bench and depth: Hawks’ second unit crushed Washington’s (+36 point differential) last time. Rookies and role players (Flemings, Wiggins, Ejiofor, etc.) could again swing minutes if Johnson sits.

Series History

All-time regular-season/playoff meetings heavily favor the Hawks historically in aggregate, though records vary by era (recent notes put Hawks ahead overall in modern tracking). In 2025-26 Atlanta took the season series 3-1. Early 2026-27: Hawks lead 1-0 after the Nov. 4 win. They meet again later (Jan. 11 in Washington, Feb. 1 in Atlanta). Recent games have often been competitive or featured scoring outbursts; the Nov. 4 contest was decided by Atlanta’s three-point barrage and rebounding.

Betting Trends

Hawks have been strong ATS/home in recent relevant spots and dominated the prior matchup (especially from three and on the glass). Wizards have hit the under in several recent games and kept some opponents in check defensively but struggled against Atlanta’s pace/shooting last time.
