CAUFIELD COLLECTS OT WINNER AS CANADIENS WITHSTAND COOLEY’S HAT TRICK

The Canadiens bounced back from their loss Tuesday by overcoming Logan Cooley‘s (3-1—4) hat trick and earning a multi-goal comeback victory of their own when Cole Caufield scored his 15th career overtime goal to end the contest. Montreal became the fourth team in NHL history with a multi-goal comeback win in a game immediately after suffering a loss where they held a four-goal lead, joining Calgary (Oct. 18, 2007), Toronto (Nov. 30, 2000) and Edmonton (Oct. 26, 1991).

* Caufield scored his 11th overtime goal at home, which matched the fifth most in NHL history. Only Alex Ovechkin (14), Leon Draisaitl (13), Patrik Elias (12) and Sidney Crosby (12) have more.

* Nick Suzuki (1-2—3) made his return to the lineup and assisted on Caufield’s overtime goal for his 15th point of 2026-27 (10 GP). He became the first Canadiens player in more than 30 years with as many points through their first 10 games of a season – the last to do so were Denis Savard (18) and Kirk Muller (15) in 1992-93.

* Cooley factored on all four Mammoth goals and recorded his fifth career hat trick. At 228 games played, he became the fastest active player to reach the mark, besting the NHL’s all-time goals leader, Alex Ovechkin (230 GP).

SENNECKE HELPS DUCKS OUTSCORE BOUCHARD, McDAVID AND OILERS

Beckett Sennecke (2-1—3) co-led the Ducks in scoring Thursday with his second straight outing of three or more points and helped Anaheim defeat Edmonton – the League’s highest scoring-team this season (71 GF). The Ducks tallied at least five goals for the sixth straight game, marking the longest stretch in franchise history. The last team with a run that lengthy was the 2021-22 Maple Leafs (6 GP).

* Sennecke’s second tally of the night put him past Dustin Penner (32) for the third-most goals by an Anaheim skater before their 100th NHL game (98 GP) – a list topped by Paul Kariya (46) and Bobby Ryan (40). That goal also made 20-year-old Sennecke the youngest player in franchise history to record consecutive three-point games, besting 21-year-old Kariya in 1995-96 (2 GP).

* Evan Bouchard (1-1—2), who became the sixth different defenseman in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44) to reach the 10-goal mark in 17 games or fewer, became the third player this season with 30 points following his teammates Connor McDavid (1-3—4) and Leon Draisaitl (1-1—2), who each also had multi-point games Thursday. The trio helped the Oilers become the third team in the past 50 years to have three of their players be the League’s first three outright to reach the 30-point mark in a campaign, following the 1995-96 Penguins and 1979-80 Kings.

HELLEBUYCK, DiPIETRO BACKSTOP DEVILS, BRUINS TO WINS
Connor Hellebuyck collected his fourth straight win to begin his Devils career while Michael DiPietro helped the Bruins maintain top spot in the Atlantic Division:

* Hellebuyck became the second goaltender in Devils franchise history to win each of his first four games with the club, following John Vanbiesbrouck (4 GP in 2000-01), as he backstopped New Jersey to its sixth straight home win. The Devils have posted only one longer such run over the past 15 years (7 GP in 2025-26).

* DiPietro (16 saves) improved to 4-1-0 through five appearances this season (2.20 GAA, .924 SV%, 1 SO), with the Atlantic Division-leading Bruins (12-4-1, 25 points) having scored 21 goals during his four-game winning streak (5.3 G/GP). DiPietro has one of the NHL’s highest goals-for averages (4.21 GFA), a statistic akin to “run support” in baseball.

ROOKIES AND VETERANS SHINE IN #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES
The latest edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates featured rookies Trevor Connelly and Viggo Björck finding the score sheet to help the Golden Knights and Jets earn wins, respectively, as well as veteran Steven Stamkos netting an overtime winner to climb multiple all-time lists.

* Connelly collected a highlight-reel go-ahead goal with 1:42 remaining in regulation to reach seven tallies on the season and remain one back of Roman Kantserov (8) for the NHL’s most among rookies. The Golden Knights (11-5-2, 24 points) moved within one point of the Western Conference-leading Wild (11-3-3, 25 points).

* Björck (18 years, 238 days) collected an assist and became the third-youngest Swedish player in NHL history at the time of his first NHL point, behind only Mika Zibanejad (18 years, 172 days on Oct. 7, 2011) and Rasmus Dahlin (18 years, 181 days on Oct. 11, 2018). Björck also became the youngest Jets player at the time of his first NHL point since Ville Heinola (18 years, 215 days on Oct. 3, 2019).

* Stamkos lifted the Predators to victory in the extra frame and climbed multiple all-time lists in the process: he scored his 18th career overtime goal to tie Sebastian Aho and Mark Scheifele for the seventh most in NHL history and also recorded his 102nd career game winner to pass Jarome Iginla for sole possession of 10th most all-time.
