MLS Preview: Vancouver Whitecaps FC (3-3-5) at FC Dallas (5-3-3)

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC are unbeaten in their last five matches at FC Dallas (W2 D3) after losing each of their first eight away matches in the series. This run equals Vancouver’s longest road unbeaten run against any opponent in the club’s MLS history (5 straight at Colorado from 2017-2021).

FC Dallas has conceded exactly once in each of its last nine home matches (including playoffs) dating back to a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union last August. FC Dallas hasn’t allowed more than one goal in a club-record 15-straight home matches, with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (0-2 last June) the last visitors with multiple goals at Toyota Stadium.

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC are winless in 13 straight road MLS matches (D7 L6), the second-longest active winless run away from home in MLS (San Jose Earthquakes – 14 straight). Vancouver’s last road win in league play was a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas last June.

Jesus Ferreira’s 89th-minute goal against Austin FC on Saturday turned one point into three for FC Dallas. Ferreira’s six goals have earned FC Dallas 10 additional points this season, more than any other player in MLS (C. Espinoza – 9 for the San Jose Earthquakes).

The last 11 non-own goals scored by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MLS play have been scored by Americans (10) or Canadians (1), the longest run of consecutive goals for a team scored by players from the United States or Canada since Toronto FC had 13 straight in 2016.
