MLS Preview: Toronto FC (2-3-6) at CF Montréal Impact (4-6-0)

CF Montreal Impact has won six of its last eight meetings with Toronto FC, including the last three in Quebec, including a win in last year’s Canadian Championship Final. CF Montreal Impact has never won four straight true home games against Toronto FC in competitions (excluding neutral site home games in 2020-21).

After collecting just three points from its first seven games (W1 D) L6), CF Montreal Impact has won three consecutive games. CF Montreal Impact is the first team in MLS history to collect fewer than five points from its first seven games and then immediately win the next three contests.

Toronto FC is winless in eight straight road games (D3 L5), last recording an away win last April at Charlotte FC. Toronto FC has four wins in 39 regular season road games since the start of the 2021 season (D10 L25), tied for the fewest among teams that have been in MLS in all three season (Houston Dynamo FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC).

Romell Quioto, who scored in CF Montreal Impact’s win on Saturday against Orlando City SC, has contributed to eight goals (4 goals, 4 assists)in 11 MLS matches against Toronto FC, more than any other opponent in his career. Five of the eight goal contributions have come since joining CF Montreal in 2020.

Richie Laryea completed six of seven dribble attempts on Saturday against the New England Revolution, taking him to 28 successful dribbles this season, equaling Federico Bernardeschi for most on the team and fourth-most in MLS in 2023.
