MLS Preview: Sporting Kansas City (6-10-6) at Houston Dynamo FC (8-9-3)

Sporting Kansas City has won eight of its 13 meetings against the Houston Dynamo FC since the beginning of the 2018 season (D2 L3). The eight regular-season wins equal the most Sporting Kansas City has recorded against any opponent since the start of the 2018 season (Minnesota United FC).

Houston Dynamo FC has won its last four home games in all competitions, scoring four goals in each of its last two matches (both in league play). it is the first time the Houston Dynamo FC has scored 4+goals in consecutive home MLS matches since doing so in August 2008 as the team has never done so in three straight.

Sporting Kansas City is coming a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC; the team’s second shutout win by at least three goals in MLS play this season (also against Minnesota United FC in May). Sporting Kansas City had one such win against MLS competition for the entirety of 2022.

In Houston Dynamo FC’s 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, Steve Clark played in his 250th MLS match (including playoffs). Clark is the 12th goalkeeper to play 250+MLS matches and joins Luis Robles as the only two of those 12 to have never played in an MLS All-Star Game.

Including his goal in the win over the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Alan Pulido has scored seven goals in his last six games. Pulido had score four goals in his previous 24 regular season games, dating back to June of the 2021 season.
