MLS Preview: Seattle Sounders FC (8-6-4) at Los Angeles Football Club (8-3-5)

The Los Angeles Football Club is undefeated in six regular-season home matches against the Seattle Sounders FC (W5 D1), one of two opponents Seattle has visited more than twice in the regular season but has never defeated (also the Philadelphia Union). The Seattle Sounders have won two of their last 10 matches in all competitions (D3 L5) following a 3-3 draw at Charlotte FC on June 10. The Seattle Sounders FC have avoided defeat in three of its last five on the road (W1 D2) after losing 10 of its previous 13 away games in all competitions.

Each of Carlos Vela’s last two goals have been match-winners scored in the 90th minute or later, including a winning strike against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. Prior to those two goals, Vela had never scored a match-winning goal after the 85th minute in an MLS match.

Raul Ruidiaz scored two of the Seattle Sunders FC’s three goals in its 3-3 draw with Charlotte FC, his fifth career multi-goal game on the road in MLS. Since his debut with the Seattle Sounders FC in July 2018, Ruidiaz has scored 27 goals in away matches, only Josef Martinez (28) has more.
