MLS Preview: Seattle Sounders FC (8-6-3) at Charlotte FC (6-8-3)

The Seattle Sounders FC defeated Charlotte FC, 2-1, in Seattle last May in the first meeting between the sides. Ben Bender put Charlotte FC ahead after 21 minutes only for Jordan Morris and Raul Ruidiaz to score second-half goals for a Seattle Sounders FC comeback win.

Charlotte FC saw its seven-match home unbeaten run in all competitions (W5 D2) come to an end in its last match at Bank of America Stadium, a 2-1 loss to Nashville SC on May 20. Charlotte FC has lost only three of its 13 home matches in all competitions (W7 D3) dating back to last September.

The Seattle Sounders FC have won only two of their last eight regular season matches (D2 L4) after a run of six wins in their previous nine (D1 L2). Seattle Sounders FC have scored only once in its last four matches, a Jordan Morris strike in a 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on May 27.

Justin Meram scored his third goal for Charlotte FC in its loss at the Columbus Crew SC on Saturday to go along with three assists in eight matches. Meram is one of two MLS players, along with Lucas Zelarayan (3 goals, 4 assists) with at least three goals and three assists since the start of May.

The Seattle Sounders FC failed to scored for the second straight match in a 0-0 draw with the Portland Timbers on Saturday. The Seattle Sounders FC have been held to fewer than two goals in a club-record 10 straight regular season matches, totaling just six goals in that time, its fewest in a 10-match span since 2015 (5 from June-August).
