MLS Preview: Seattle Sounders (3-1-1) at Los Angeles Galaxy (0-1-3)

The Los Angeles Galaxy have beaten the Seattle Sounders just once in their last 16 meetings, which began in July 2016 (W8 D7), and the Sounders have won nine of those matches (W5 D4). In ten straight MLS matches against the Los Angeles Galaxy, no team has ever won.

For the fourth time since the shootout, the Los Angeles Galaxy have not won any of their first four games (D3 L1) (since 2000, 2002, 2009, and 2020). Los Angeles hasn’t lost any of its last eight home matches (W4 D4, including end of the season games), its longest unbeaten disagreement Carson in all rivalries since a 10-match run in 2018.

Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City brought an end to the Seattle Sounders’ 10-match losing streak away from home (D1 L9). It was just the Seattle Sounder’s fourth success in their last 27 street games in all rivalries (D8 L15) tracing all the way back to October 2021.

This is the fewest number of goals scored by the Los Angeles Galaxy after four games in a season in the club’s history. In fact, there have only been two goals scored and four goals conceded in Galaxy games this year, one less than Jordan Morris has managed for the Seattle Sounders on his own (7).

Jordan Morris became the third player in MLS history to score at least four goals in an away match on Saturday against Sporting Kansas City. He joins Raul Diaz Arce and Clint Mathis, who scored five goals against FC Dallas in 2000. Morris has scored more goals than Landon Donovan (8 in 2007) in his team’s first five MLS games.
