MLS Preview: San Jose Earthquakes (7-5-6) at Houston Dynamo FC (7-7-3)

The San Jose Earthquakes recorded a 2-1 home win over the Houston Dynamo FC on April 1, but the Houston Dynamo Fc have won each of the last six meetings between the sides in Houston. The Houston Dynamo FC have just one longer regular-season home winning streak against a single opponent, winning seven straight against D. C. United from 2009-2014.

The Houston Dynamo FC have won back-to-back matches, both against the Los Angeles Football Club, keeping clean sheets in both wins. Houston Dynamo FC hasn’t won three straight league matches since August-September 2020 and hasn’t kept three straight clean sheets in a single season since July-August 2012.

The San Jose Earthquakes are unbeaten in five straight games (W2 D3), allowing just two goals in those games. This is the San Jose Earthquakes longest unbeaten run in regular season play since a 10-mtach run in 2021 and the first time its allowed two or fewer goals in a five-match span since 2015.

The Houston Dynamo FC have equaled an MS record by allowing just two goals through their first eight home matches of a season, equaling a mark set by Chivas USA in 2007 and matched by Toronto FC in 2008. Only Toronto FC in 2008 allowed two goals in its first nine home games of a campaign.

Jeremy Ebobisse has scored three goals in his last two matches in Houston (one with the Portland Timbers), including netting a brace in a 4-3 San Jose Earthquakes defeat last April. Only two players have scored in three straight visits to Houston in MLS history: Diego Rubin in 2018-20 and Kheli Dube in 2008-10.
