MLS Preview: Real Salt Lake (7-7-6) at Toronto FC (3-7-10)

Real Salt Lake has won just one of its nine all-time matches against Toronto FC in all competitions (D3 L5), including losing each of its last two visits to BMO Field. Toronto FC has held Real Salt Lake to three total goals in the nine matches, not allowing more than one goal in any match.

Toronto FC has lost only one of its first 10 home matches this season, (W3 D6), tied for third fewest in MLS this season. Still, only nine teams have earned fewer points at home this season than Toronto FC’s 15.

Real Salt Lake is unbeaten in a club-record nine straight away matches in all competitions (W6 D3), having not lost on the road since mid-April. Real Salt Lake could become the first MLS team since the Portland Timbers in 2012-13 (11 straight) to record a double-digit unbeaten run on the road in all competitions.

Toronto FC lost, 2-1, to the New England Revolution despite Deandre Kerr opening the scoring in the 11th minute. Toronto FC has led in 10 matches this season but has gone on to win only three of those (D5 L2) as the Toronto Reds FC have dropped a league-high 16 point from winning positions in 2023.

Justen Glad scored and equalizer in the 98th minute for Real Salt Lake in its 2-2 draw with Minnesota United Fc on Saturday, Glad’s third goal of the season. Since the start of the 2020 MLS season, Glad has scored nine goas, only two defenders (R. Hollingshead 14, W. Zimmerman 11) have scored more in that time.
