That 20-point improvement from its first to its second season is the second-largest improvement by an expansion team from year one to year two in MLS history(Chivas USA – 25 points).
Including playoffs, the Timbers have won just three of 30 MLS matches in Texas (D12 L15). Portland drew its last match in Texas, a scoreless draw in Houston in April, though it hasn’t managed to avoid defeat in consecutive visits to Texas since a run of four straight draws in 2017-18.
Austin FC has scored at least three goals in each of its last five home matches., scoring four in each of its last two at Q2 Stadium. The longest run of home matches with at least three goals scored in league history is six, a run last achieved by LAFC in 2019.
Dairon Asprilla scored the first goal and assisted the second in Portland’s 2-1 win over rival Seattle on Friday. It marked the sixth time Asprilla has recorded a goal and an assist in a match in his MLS career, and his second against Seattle (also in the 2018 playoffs).
