The Philadelphia Union haven’t lost any of their last nine matches against the New York Red Bulls (W6 D3, including playoffs). Only two teams (New England Revolution twice, San Jose Earthquakes) have gone at least 10 straight MLS games against the New York Red Bulls without defeat, with New England the last to do so from 2005 to 2016 (16 straight).
Saturday’s 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire took the New York Red Bulls to nine points (W1 D6 L3) through 10 matches this season. This is the first tie the New York Red Bulls have had fewer than 10 points after 10 games of a season since 2009 (9), the last time they failed to make the playoffs.
The Philadelphia Union won their last league match, 4-2, over Toronto FC on April 22. That win marked the 10th time since July 2022 that Philadelphia has scored at least four goals in an MLS match, something no other team has done more than three times in that span.
Cory Burke scored an 89th minute goal on Saturday in Chicago to earn the New York Red Bulls a point in a 1-1 draw. Seven of New York’s nine MLS points this season (W1 D4) have come in matches in which it trailed at some point.
Mikael Uhre scored a hat-trick in the Philadelphia Union’s win over Toronto FC on April 22, the fifth hat-trick by a Union player in the team’s last 25regular-season MLS matches. Prior to that, Philadelphia Union players had recorded a hat-trick four times in the team’s first 408 MLS games.
