Orlando City won the first meeting between the sides, 2-1, at home on April 30. the Lions have never won an away match against an expansion team, losing five times and drawing four.
Charlotte FC won its second away MLS match on Wednesday, defeating New York City FC 3-1. Charlotte has won consecutive matches only twice in its inaugural season, with the last two-match winning run beginning with its only other away win (2-1 at Houston in early July).
Orlando City has lost only three of its 13 away matches this season (W4 D6) as only the Crew (2) have lost fewer on the road. Orlando has only collected more than the 18 road points they have this year once before, totaling 20 points away from home last season.
Karol Swiderski scored the opening goal for Charlotte against NYCFC on Wednesday, his team-high eight goal of the season. It was Swiderski’s first goal on the road as each of his first seven goals this season were scored at Bank of America Stadium.
Alexandre Pato went off injured in Orlando’s win over the Red Bulls on Saturday., but not before recording an assist on the game’s only goal. Pato has scored (1) or assisted (3) on four of the Lion’s last six MLS goals.
