MLS Preview: Orlando City SC (12-6-7) at Charlotte FC (7-9-8)

Orlando City SC recorded a pair of 2-1 wins over Charlotte FC during the 2022 season, but Charlotte FC has won both meetings this season, each by a one-goal margin, including knocking the US Open Cup holders out with a 1-0 win in the fourth round of that tournament.

Charlotte FC has lost only one of its last 13 home matches in all competitions (W7 D5), including winning the last two in a row at Bank of American Stadium. Charlotte FC has scored multiple goals in eight of those 13 matches, including each of the last three.

Orlando City SC has won six of its last nine matches in all competitions, including the last two (D1 L2). Prior to this run, Orlando City SC had managed just six wins in its previous 21 matches in all competitions (D9 L6).

Former Burnley players Ashely Westwood and Scott Arfield scored Charlotte FC’s two goals in its win over the Los Angeles Football Club on Saturday. The only other players in MLS history to score a regular-season MLS goal and also score for Burnley in the Premier League was Steven Caldwell.

Facundo Torres scored both of Orlando City SC’s goals in its win over St. Louis City SC on Saturday, his third career MLS brace, all coming this season. Only Cyle Larin (4) in 2015 has recorded more multi-goal games in a single season in Orlando City SC’s MLS history.
