MLS Preview: Orlando City SC (12-10-6) at Philadelphia Union (17-4-9)

The Union have won each of their last two matches against Orlando City, including a 1-0 away victory on July 23. Neither team has managed three straight wins against the other in the MLS history of the rivalry.

The Union tied one MLS record and set another following a 2-0 victory over the Red Bulls on Saturday. Philadelphia has 18 goals in its last four games, equaling the most in a four-game span in MLS history, while its +17 goal difference in those games (18-1) is the largest in a four-game span in league history.

Orlando City has won its last four MLS matches, the club’s longest winning streak since a six-match run in March-May 2018. The four straight wins come following a stretch of just two wins in 12 league matches (D4 L6).

Daniel Gazdag, who scored the second of the two goals for the Union on Saturday, has 11 goals in his last 11 MLS matches, tied with Hany Mukhtar for most in MLS since that run began(July 13).

Orlando City has the second-best first-half defense in MLS this season, conceding just 11 times before the break (Union – 6). it’s been a different story in the second half however, as just four teams have allowed more goals after halftime than the Lions (29).
