New York City FC has won all five of its MLS matches against Inter Miami, including winning each of the last three by a two-goal margin. The only team to win its first six MLS matches against a single opponent was New York City FC against Cincinnati from 2019-21.
Inter Miami has lost only one of its last nine home league games (W6 D2), scoring 21 times over those nine matches. Since that run started on April 9, only NYCFC (26) has scored more goals at home than Miami.
New York City FC’s 3-2 defeat in Columbus on Saturday was just its second loss in its last 18 league games (W11 D5) dating back to mid-April. NYCFC has kept clean sheets in six of its last 10 away matches, but allowed 11 total goals in the other four, conceding multiple times in each.
Alejandro Pozuelo, who recorded his second assist for Inter Miami on Saturday, tortured New York City FC during his time in Toronto. Including playoffs, Pozuelo had seven goals and four assists against NYCFC in MLS play, more than any other player against any team since Pozuelo joined MLS in 2019.
New York City scored after just three minutes against the Crew on Saturday, the 13th time this season NYCFC has opened the scoring, but just the second time they failed to win after taking a 1-0 lead (W11 D1 L1). Only LAFC (W12 D0 L0) has a better record after scoring the first goal of a match.
