MLS Preview: Minnesota United FC (9-11-11) at Los Angeles Football Club (12-10-9)

Five of the last six meetings between the Los Angeles Football Club and Minnesota United FC have been drawn, including the meeting in St. Paul in July. The only victory by either team over those six meetings was a 2-0 home win for Los Angeles Football Club in may 2022.

The Los Angeles Football Club have been shut out in four straight matches in all competitions and in each of its last three MLS matches. This season, the club has been held scoreless in 13 different matches (all competitions), which is the most by a defending MSL Cup champion since the Los Angeles Galaxy was shut out in 14 times in 2013.

Minnesota United FC is winless in six straight matches (D3 L3), equaling its longest regular-season run since the start of the 2019 season. The Minnesota United FC Loons last went longer without a regular-season win during a seven-match stretch from July to September 2018 (D2 L5).

Denis Bouanga has attempted 118 shots this season, 64 more than any other Los Angeles Football Club player in 2023 (Carlos Vela – 54). The only MLS teams with a larger gap between their shot leader and the player with the next most are Columbus Crew SC (C. Hernandez& L. Zelarayian, 71) and Nashville SC (H. Muhktar and T. Bunbury, 67).

Teemu Pukki has scored in three consecutive games and in five of his last six matches for the Orlando City SC Loons. It is Pukki’s first time scoring in three straight matches in league play since doing so for Norwich City in England’s EFL Championship’s in March 2021.
