MLS Preview: Los Angeles Galaxy (11-11-4) at Toronto FC (9-13-6)

Toronto FC has lost only one of its eight home matches against the Galaxy (W3 D4) , including winning the last two. The Galaxy haven’t collected a point in Toronto since a 2-2 draw in March.

Toronto FC’s renaissance continued with a 2-0 win over Charlotte on Saturday, the club’s fourth victory in its last seven games (D2 L1), and third clean sheet in that time. Toronto won just five of its previous 27 MLS matches (D7 L15), failing to keep a clean sheet in any of those games.

The Galaxy snapped a four-match losing streak with a 2-1 victory at New England on Sunday night. The Galaxy haven’t won consecutive true road games since August-September 2020. Though they did win two straight way from home in June 2021, the first was against Vancouver in Sandy, UT.

Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi both scored in Toronto’s win on Saturday, the third time in their seven starts together that both have scored. The Italian trio of Insigne, Bernardeschi and Domenico Criscito have been involved in 13 of Toronto’s last 15 MLS goals, including scoring the last seven.

Chicharito recorded his fifth career MLS assist in the Galaxy’s win over New England on Sunday, also finding the net himself. In the five matches in which Chicharito has an assist in his MLS career, he’s scored in three of them.
