Both Columbus and Inter Miami won their lone home match against each other. The Crew recorded a 4-0 win at home over Miami in October 2021. Pedro Santos scored once and provided two assists in the win, the only time he’s been involved in three goals in a single MLS match.
The Crew have lost only one of their last 14 MLS matches (W5 D 8) following a late equalizer for a 2-2 draw with Cincinnati on Saturday. Despite every other team losing at least three times since late May, the Crew’s 23 points in that span are only seventh-most in MLS.
Inter Miami’s five-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 3-1 defeat at the Red Bulls on Saturday. The defeat was Miami’s sixth loss in their last 10 road game (W1 D3) while its lost only one of nine home games (W6 D2 L1) in the same span.
Steven Moreira’s equalizing goal at 90’+6 on Saturday was one of 14 result-changing goal scored in the 95th minute or later this MLS season. The Crew are one of three teams (with D.C. United and Houston) to make that list multiple times this season. (D. Nagbe equalizer at 90’+5 vs. Red Bulls in March).
Gonzalo Higuain scored Inter Miami’s goal against the red Bulls on a direct free kick. It was the fourth straight match in which Higuain has contributed to a goal (2 goals, 2 assists), equaling the longest such streak in Miami’s MLS history (Lewis Morgan in 2020).
