MLS Preview: FC Dallas (11-8-10) at Minnesota United FC (13-10-5)

Minnesota United is unbeaten in six straight matches against FC Dallas (W4 D2) , including a 2-1 away win on May 22. The Loons have won five of their six home games against Dallas (L1), with the only blemish a 1-0 defeat on June 28.

On Wednesday, Minnesota United suffered their largest defeat of the season with a 3-0 away loss to Real Salt Lake. The shutout ended a streak of 13 consecutive games with a goal, which was the longest such streak in the team’s history.

FC Dallas has won one of its last seven road matches (D3, L3), losing its last away match, 4-0, at Nashville on August 21. Dallas hasn’t lost consecutive road matches all season, however, last doing so with defeats in Houston and Vancouver last September.

Not a single player for Minnesota United mustered more than one shot in their loss to Real Salt Lake. It was just the third time in the team’s history that they finished a match without having a player with multiple shots (May 11, 2019 at Chicago and June 17, 2017 at Real Salt Lake).

Excluding own goals, FC Dallas’ last 28 goals have been scored by either Americans or Argentinians. In fact, of the 39 non-own goals scored by Dallas this year, only two have been scored from players outside the United States or Argentina (Jader Obrian (COL) on February 26 and Tsiki Ntsabeleng (RSA) on April 23).
