New York City FC and FC Cincinnati played to a 4-4 draw on June 29, the first point Cincinnati ever collected against NYCFC (L6). New York City FC became the first team in MLS history to overcome a 3-goal deficit to tie a match before halftime.

New York City FC’s 3-0 defeat at New England on Sunday was its sixth loss in its last seven games (W1), just the second time in club history that NYCFC has lost six times in a seven-game span after doing so within the first 10 games of the club’s MLS history in 2015.

FC Cincinnati ended a string of 10 draws in its last 13 MLS matches with a 2-0 win over Charlotte on Saturday. Cincinnati has now lost only one of its last 14 MLS matches (W3 D10) dating back to the beginning of June, tied with Columbus for the fewest defeats in the league in that time.

Heber has scored braces in three of his four MLS matches against FC Cincinnati, including in the 4-4 in June, only three MLS matches in which in which he’s scored more than once. The only other player to record three multi-goal games against a single opponent since Heber joined MLS in 2019 is Gyasi Zardes, also against Cincinnati.

Luciano Acosta scored once and set up the other goal in FC Cincinnati’s win over Charlotte on Saturday, taking him to 23 goal contributions on the season (7 goals, 16 assists). Acosta now has contributed to 40 since joining FC Cincinnati last season (14 goals, 26 assists), fourth-most in MLS in that time.
