MLS Preview: D.C. United (6-14-4) at Los Angeles Football Club (17-4-3)

Los Angeles FC has collected four points in two MLS matches against D.C. United, including a 4-0 away win in the last meeting in April 2019. D.C. earned a 1-1 draw in their lone visit to Banc of California Stadium in May 2018. Only one team has visited LAFC more than once and never lost: New York City FC (P2 W1 D1).

Los Angeles FC’s 5-0 win over Charlotte FC on Saturday marked a club record sixth straight victory. LAFC’s 54 points through 24 games are the second most at this stage of an MLS season behind only their 55 points after 24 games in 2019.

D.C. United has lost four straight away matches, being outscored, 13-0, in those games. Only four teams in MLS history have suffered five straight shutout losses on the road, most recently Orlando City in 2018.

Los Angeles FC has scored in 38 consecutive home regular season matches dating back to September 2020. Only D.C. United has had a longer home scoring streak in MLS, going 64 straight home games with a goal from 1996 to 1999 before being shut out at home for the first time in club history in its first home game of its fifth season in 2000.

Six of the last eight goals scored against D.C. United (excluding own goals) have been scored with the left foot. Overall, D.C. has allowed 16 left-footed goals this season, only San Jose (18) has let in more while LAFC has scored a league-high 27 left-footed goals this season.
