The Crew haven’t lost any of their last 12 home matches against the Fire (W9 D3) dating back to 2013. The 12-match run equals the longest home unbeaten run for the Crew against any opponent (Dallas 1999-2006) while the Fire have one longer away winless run: 14 straight at Dallas from 1999-2008, including playoffs.
Columbus lost only one of its last 15 MLS matches (W6 D8) following a 1-0 win over Inter Miami on Wednesday. The Crew are yet to put together consecutive wins this season, however, picking up a draw following each of the team’s first eight MLS wins this season.
The Fire were held scoreless for their third consecutive match on Wednesday with a 0-0 draw with New England. Since the beginning of the last season, Chicago has been shut out in 26 different games, which is three more than any other MLS team in that span.
The Crew allowed Miami to attempt just four shots in their 1-0 win on Wednesday, the fourth time this season Columbus has held an opponent to four shots or fewer. Only the Reb Bulls (5 times) have done so more often this season.
For the second time in his MLS career, Gabriel Slonina made five saves while keeping a clean sheet in Chicago’s 0-0 draw against the Revolution on Wednesday. From the beginning of 2017 to Slonina’s debut in August of last year, a Chicago goalkeeper only made 5+ saves in a shutout one (B. Shuttleworth in 2020).
