MLS Preview: CF Montreal Impact (8-9-1) at Charlotte FC (6-8-5)

CF Montreal Impact won both meetings with Charlotte FC last season, scoring two goals in each win. No team has defeated Charlotte FC in three straight MLS matches.

Charlotte FC has lost only one of its last nine home matches in all competitions (W5 D3) dating back to late March. Charlotte FC has scored at least once in all nine of those matches, netting at least three times in their of their last six home games.

CF Montreal Impact has lost eight of its 10 away matches this season (W1 D1), including three of the last four. CF Montreal Impact have been outscored, 24-5, in their 10 away matches as only Real Salt Lake in 2017 and Miami Fusion in 1998 (both – 20) had a worse goal difference in their first 10 road matches of an MLS season.

Ben Bender scored two goals in the opening 19 minutes of Charlotte FC’s 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, the fastest from kickoff any player has scored twice this MLS season. It was also the fastest from kickoff any Charlotte FC player has scored twice in the club’s MLS history.

Bryce Duke’s goal in CF Montreal Impact’s 1-0 win over Nashville SC on Wednesday was the first scored from outside the box by a CF Montreal Impact player this season. CF Montreal Impact’s previous 28 MLS goals were all scored inside the penalty area.
