CF Montreal ended a six-match losing streak to the Revolution (including playoffs) with a 4-0 home win on August 20. Montreal has recorded multiple wins over the Revs in a single season only twice before, doing so in 2012 (W2 L1) and 2015 (W2 D1).
New England has lost its last two matches, the fourth losing streak the revs have suffered this season. New England did not lose consecutive matches within a single regular season from Bruce Arena’s debut in May 2019 through the end of last season.
CF Montreal has won five straight away matches for the first time in club history. Only one team has won more than five straight matches without needing a shootout win in the run: San Jose (6 straight) in July – October 2005.
Djordje Petrovic made his fourth penalty save of the season in the Rev’s 3-1 defeat at Houston on Tuesday. Petrovic is the third goalkeeper in the last decade to save four penalties in a single season (including playoffs) after Nick Rimando for Real Salt Lake in 2014 and Zack Steffen for the Crew in 2017.
Kei Kamara scored two of Montreal’s three goals in its 3-2 win over the Fire on Tuesday. It was Kamara’s 21st multi-goal game in MLS, but his first in over three years, since doing so against his current club with Colorado in August 2019.
