MLS Preview: CF Montreal Impact (15-9-4) at Toronto FC (9-13-7)

CF Montreal is unbeaten in fur straight matches against their archrival Toronto FC for the first time in the club’s MLS history (W3 D1) following a 1-0 win on July 16. Only once has either team swept the season series against the other in MLS with Toronto winning both meetings n the 2019 campaign.

Toronto FC has lost just one of its last eight matches (W4 D3) following a 2-2 draw with the Galaxy Wednesday. The Reds have scored 18 times in those games after scoring only eight times in their previous eight matches in which they collected just seven points (W2 L1 D5).

CF Montreal has won four straight away matches for the first time in club history. Montreal’s eight wins, 26 points and 25 goals are all the most its ever had on the road in a single MLS season.

Federico Bernardeschi has scored in all four of his home matches against Toronto FC, including the Galaxy on Wednesday. Bernardeschi is the fourth player to score in four straight home matches for Toronto after Jozy Altidore in 2019, Danny Koevermans in 2012 and Dwayne DeRosario in 2010.

CF Montreal’s 1-0 loss to the Red Bulls on Wednesday was just the fifth time its failed to score this season. Montreal hasn’t been shut out in consecutive matches in a single season since May 2021 against Crew and Whitecaps.
