MLS Preview: CF Montreal Impact (12-8-4) at Houston Dynamo FC (7-13-4)

In the 16 meetings between the Dynamo and Montreal in MLS (including playoffs), the home team has never lost. The only away point ever collected in this matchup was a 1-1 draw in Houston in October 2012. The home side has won all 13 matches since.

The Dynamo’s 2-1 defeat to the Whitecaps on Friday was their third straight defeat and 12th loss in their last 17 MLS games (W4 D1). Since that run began on April 23, no team has fewer points than Houston (13).

CF Montréal has won six of its last nine away matches (D1 L2), including the last two in a row following victories in D.C. and Columbus. Montreal has never won three consecutive road games in the club’s MLS history.

The Dynamo led 1-0 until an 88th-minute equalizer and stoppage time winner by the Whitecaps on Friday, the third time since July 31 that a team lost a match they led in the 88th minute or later and the fourth time this season. Prior to 2022, a team had come back to win after trailing at 88’ or later just three times in the previous three seasons (2019-21).

Romell Quioto scored both of Montreal’s goals in its 2-2 draw with Miami on Saturday. The brace was Quioto’s third multi-goal game in 2022 after he had recorded just one such game in his first five MLS seasons.
