The Sounders are unbeaten in three matches against Austin FC (W1 D2) including a 1-1 draw at Austin on March 20. There was only one goal scored in the two meetings between the sides in 2021, with Seattle winning 1-0 away in July and a scoreless draw in the only meeting in Seattle in May.
The Sounders snapped a five-match winless run with a 2-1 victory over Houston on Sunday. Seattle has just two winning streaks this season (both 2 straight) as the only seasons in which they had fewer than three different wining streaks were 2018 and 2020 (2 each).
Austin FC has lost consecutive matches for the second time this season following a 3-0 defeat at Nashville on Saturday. Austin has also lost its last two on the road games in which it lost only twice (W8 D2).
Nouhou Tolo scored his first career MLS goal in his 149th match (including playoffs) in Seattle’s win over Houston on Sunday. Among players who scored at least once, only six played ore games before scoring their first MLS goal.
Austin FC’s 3-0 loss at Nashville ended an 18-match scoring streak and was the first time the Verde were shut since May 8 vs. the Galaxy. It was just the third time this season that Austin has failed to score, as only Los Angeles FC (2 times) has failed to find the net less often in 2022.
