MLS Preview: Atlanta United FC (4-1-2) at Toronto FC (1-1-5)

Atlanta United FC has lost only one of its last six matches against Toronto FC (W3 D2) dating back to the start of the 2021 season. Including playoffs, it was Toronto FC that suffered only one defeat n the first eight meetings between the sides (W4 D3) from 2017 through 2020.

Toronto FC is unbeaten in six straight matches, though five of those, including the last three, have ended in draws. The other match in that time, a 2-0 win over Inter Miami FC, is Toronto FC’s only victory in its last 13 MLS matches dating back to late August last year (D6 L6).

Giorgos Giakoumakis scored Atlanta United FC’s lone goal in its draw with New York City FC on Saturday. Giakoumakis has scored in each of his first three MLS starts and could become just the seventh player in league history to score in each of his first four starts, joining Amine Bassi, who has done so for Houston Dynamo FC this year.
