The Nationals and Mariners will meet three times in 2023 (All three in Seattle)…Carl Edwards Jr. was with the Mariners during the 2020 season…Nationals Bench Coach Tim Bogar was the Mariners Bench Coach from 2016-17…Nationals Catching and Strategy coach Henry Blanco finished his 16-year MLB playing career in Seattle in 2013.
THREE AT SEA
The Washington Nationals complete the second leg of a three-city, nine-game, 10-day road trip today with the final of three games in Seattle with the Mariners…Washington will cap off the long trip with a day off in Philadelphia on Thursday, followed by three games with the Phillies from Friday-Sunday.
- Washington won a wild one last night, 7-4, in 11 innings.
- Jake Irvin worked 5.2 innings, allowed three runs on five hits, and struck out four…Kyle Finnegan (2.0 IP, 0 H, 1 SO), Hunter Harvey (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 SO, and Jordan Weems (Win, 2.0 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 3 SO) combined to keep the Mariners off the scoreboard from the seventh inning on…Weems win was the first of his Major League career.
- Lane Thomas (2-for-5, 2B,, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 R), Luis García (2-for-5, 2 RBI), Jeimer Candelario (2-for-5, 2B, RBI, R) and Keibert Ruiz (2-for-5, HR, RBI, R) all posted multi-hit games.
- The Nationals have won three of four and four of seven games…With a win today, they would win back-to-back series for the second time this season and the first time since April 21-27, when they took two out of three in Minnesota and New York (NL).
LANE TRAIN…TO THE ALL-STAR GAME
Lane Thomas has a hit in 14 of his last 15 games, going 23-for-61 (.377) with eight doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI, two walks, one stolen base and 13 runs scored…He has eight multi-hit games in that span.
- He ranks in Major League Baseball in extra-base hits (2nd, 33), hits (4th, 67), slugging percentage (4th, .613) and doubles (T4th, 17) since May 1.

- Hunter Harvey is one of two pitchers in Major League Baseball to record at least 11 holds and five saves this season…Over his last four outings, Harvey is 2-for-2 in save opportunities and has allowed just two hits (.167 avg against) in 3.1 scoreless innings.
- Over his last six outings, Kyle Finnegan has allowed just three hits in 7.1 scoreless innings (.125 avg. against)…He’s walked one and struck out seven in that span.
- Jordan Weems has pitched to an 0.82 ERA (1 ER/11.0 IP) over his last eight games…Hitters are 2-for-36 (.056) against him over that span… Weems .056 avg. against since June 10 is the lowest by any Major League reliever with at least 10.0 IP.
- Over his last 11 games, Mason Thompson has allowed one earned run
on six hits in 10.1 innings (0.87 ERA)…He has five holds and has held

STARTING PITCHER – #46 PATRICK CORBIN
Left-handed pitcher signed a six-year contract with the Nationals on Dec. 7, 2018…Was the winning pitcher in Game 7 of the 2019 World Series…Is a two-time National League All-Star (2018, 2013)… Has started at least 30 games for five consecutive full seasons (2017-19, 2021-22), joining Gerrit Cole as the only pitchers since 2017 to accomplish the feat.

Took the loss at San Diego…Worked 5.0 innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits…Issued three walks and struck out three.

Faced the Mariners once in his career…Allowed one run on three hits in 6.0 innings to earn the win at T-Mobile Park on July 29, 2015.
