The last time the Cardinals played the Marlins on July 4 was 2017, dropping a 5-2 decision at Busch Stadium. Baker has hit safely in each of his four starts this season and only failed to record a hit when he entered the game defensively vs. San Francisco on June 13 and had only one at-bat.

THE ARCH EFFECT: With three hits in his first three plate appearances and a walk in the fourth, Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras reached base safely in eight straight plate appearances away from Busch Stadium, which included a 4-for-4 performance in London. The strikeout looking in the 9th inning ended it last night. Contreras has three games with three or more hits this season and twice in the last eight days.
