BALTIMORE ORIOLES NOTES:
WEDNESDAY’S NEWS: The Orioles fell to the Rays Wednesday afternoon, 7-2, to split the two-game series…Ramón Urías and Gunnar Henderson both homered in the loss…The O’s had four base runners (2-1B, 2 HR), tied for their fewest of the season.
Henderson’s home run was estimated at 437 ft., per Statcast; he now has two of the four furthest long balls by the O’s in 2023.
HOME COOKING: The O’s begin a nine-game, 10-day homestand this weekend with three games against Seattle…The Birds host Cincinnati from June 26-28 and Minnesota from June 30 to July 2 following an off day on June 29.
Baltimore has won five of the last six games at Oriole Park since June 9 while outscoring opponents 36-17 during that time.
The Orioles have the third-best home record in MLB at 22-13 (.629) behind Tampa Bay (32-9) and Texas (24-13); marks the best 35-game home start since 2017 (23-12).

BIG TIME RUTSCH: Adley Rutschman is slashing .345/.436/.588 (41-for-119) with five doubles, eight home runs, 21 runs scored, 17 RBI, and 20 walks in 33 home games (32 GS) this season…He leads the AL and is second in MLB with a 1.024 OPS at home while also ranking third in MLB in batting average (3rd), on-base percentage (3rd) in home games…Eleven times in O’s history (since 1954) has a player finished with an OPS above 1.000 at home in a season, most recently done by Chris Davis (1.026) in 2015…Luke Scott (1.091) holds the team record.
Rutschman ranks second in the AL with 49 walks this season; he’s on pace to draw 109 base on balls, which would be tied for the second-most in team history with Don Buford in 1970 and Ken Singleton in 1979, and trailing Singleton’s 118 in 1975.
He’s fifth in the AL with a .382 on-base percentage.
AY, TONE: Anthony Santander is tied for seventh in the AL with 20 doubles and ranks eighth in the AL with 32 extra-base hits this season…He’s the first O’s player with 32 extra-base hits in the first 73 team games since Cedric Mullins had 34 to begin the year in 2021.
