SAN DIEGO PADRES NOTES:

Padres fall 13-7 on Monday, drop 4-game series to Dodgers in San Diego

  • Luis Campusano homered twice (1st in the 3rd and again in the 9th) for a 4-RBI game, and the Padres saw doubles from Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jake Cronenworth.
  • In the 3rd inning, San Diego got 4 hits on 4 straight pitches, the 2nd time in Padres history they’ve accomplished such a feat (also on April 16, 2000 vs. the Astros).
  • Starter Seth Lugo allowed a career-high 8 earned runs in 3.1 innings of work, all of which were allowed in the 4th inning.
  • San Diego’s 5-run 3rd marked the 8th time of the year that SD has scored 5+ times in an inning, all of which have happened since May 30 (had 0 such innings in their prior 53 games)… it also marked the 1st time since 2017 that the Friars have allowed an 8+ run inning, and it was its largest lead they had blown since giving up a 6-run lead against Arizona, and losing 8-5 on June 28 last season.
  • The Friars have gone just 2-8 in 2023 against the Dodgers since beating them in the 2022 National League Division Series…they’ll play each other once more in the regular season for 3-game series in Los Angeles from September 11-13.

Padres in a stretch of 19 games in 20 days

  • Today is the 5th game of the Padres playing 19 in 20 days, with their sole off day in that span on August 10…they’re also in a stretch of playing 32 games in 34 days.
