THE PIRATES: Lost 6-4 last night in game three of this four-game series against the Dodgers…Have had five separate winning streaks of at least four games this season, including a season-high seven-game winning streak from 4/17-23…Are 6-6 in their last 12 games following their season-high 10-game losing streak from 6/13-22.

ROSTER MOVE: The Pittsburgh Pirates today reinstated infielder Ke’Bryan Hayes from the 10-day injured list…Righthanded pitcher Roansy Contreras has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room for Hayes on the 26-man active roster.

ABOUT TONIGHT’S STARTER: Johan Oviedo gets the start tonight in the series finale against the Dodgers…Oviedo has surrendered eight home runs in his 93.2 innings of work this season…His average of 0.77 home home runs allowed per 9.0 innings pitched ranks eighth in the National League.

JACK’S JACKS: Jack Suwinski has gone deep in two straight and three times in his last five games…Suwinski’s home run last night was his 19th of the season, matching his total from his rookie campaign in 2022…Since making his MLB debut last year on April 26, Suwinski’s 38 home runs are the fourth-most among all National League outfielders, trailing only Kyle Schwarber (64), Mookie Betts (56) and Juan Soto (39).

THE HOT CORNER: Since being promoted from Indianapolis on June 28, two-time Bill Mazeroski Defender of the Year Jared Triolo has recorded two Outs Above Average according to Baseball Savant…Teammate Ke’Bryan Hayes has nine Outs Above Average among third basemen per Savant (Colorado’s Ryan McMahon leads all third basemen With 11)…According to the Fielding Bible, Pittsburgh’s third basemen rank second in all of MLB with nine Defensive Runs Saved behind Colorado (10).

OFF TO ARIZONA: Pittsburgh will depart for Arizona following the conclusion of tonight’s game for the final series leading up to this year’s All-Star break…The Pirates dropped two of three games against Arizona earlier this year at PNC Park from May 19-21.

SOUTHPAW SIGHTING: Tonight the Pirates will be opposed by Julio Urias, the first southpaw the team has faced since San Diego’s Blake Snell last Wednesday at PNC Park…Pittsburgh has gone 13-11 in games started by opposing lefties this season.
