GAME #5 RECAP: The Phillies defeated the New York Yankees, 4-1, at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx … Starter Matt Strahm (ND) turned in 4.0 scoreless innings – he allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk with 3 strikeouts throwing 61 pitches, 42 for strikes … Kyle Schwarber blasted a 415-foot home run in the 1st inning and Brandon Marsh followed with a 436-foot shot in the 3rd … Andrew Bellatti (1.0 IP, 2 SO), Jose Alvarado (1.0 IP, 3 SO) and Connor Brogdon (2.0 IP, 1 SO) made scoreless appearances in relief of Strahm.

TOLLS OF BRILLIANCE: Catcher J.T. Realmuto was named All-MLB First Team last season, took home his third Silver Slugger Award and second Gold Glove Award and finished 7th in NL MVP voting … Additionally, he finished with 6.5 fWAR, 3rd in MLB history for a catcher aged 31 or older, led MLB with 1281.2 innings at catcher (regular and postseason combined) which was 240.0 innings more than HOU’s Martin Maldonado who ranked 2nd at 1041.2, and finally, became only the second catcher in MLB history with 20 HR and 20 SB, joining Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez (1999).

His 257K in 2022 marked his second straight season with at least 200K and fifth of his career (2015, ‘18-19, ‘21-22)…is just the fourth Yankee in franchise history to record at least 200K in multiple seasons, joining Luis Severino (2017-18), David Cone (1997-98) and Ron Guidry (1978-79)…became the first Yankees pitcher to record 225K in multiple seasons…is one of four Major League pitchers since 2015 to record at least five seasons with at least 200K…joins Max Scherzer (six), Chris Sale (five) and Robbie Ray (five).
