MARLINS MINUTE
The Marlins today continue a nine-game homestand – matching their longest ‘stand of the year (also Sept. 15-24). Play the first of three games vs. Oakland today, coming off a series loss (1-2) vs. San Diego. Will host Kansas City for three from Mon.- Weds. Are coming off a 5-5 road trip, which began by dropping two of three in San Francisco and three of four in Colorado before sweeping a three-game series in Anaheim over the weekend.
YESTERDAY’S RECAP
Miami dropped the series finale vs. San Diego, 10-1. LHP Jesus Luzardo retired the first 9 batters he faced before being taxed for 5 runs on 4 hits. Miami’s lone run was courtesy of a sacrifice fly by 2B Luis Arraez who later ended a no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the seventh. SS Joey Wendle notched his 500th career hit. Marked the second straight game in which Miami failed to record an extra-base hit.

At 29-28 through the club’s first 56 games, marks the latest in a non-shortened season the Marlins have owned a winning record since August of 2017.
- Marlins entered June with a winning record for the first time since 2016 (27-25), and just the fourth time since moving into this ballpark (also 2012 and 2014).

Marked Miami’s third walk-off win of the season and first since Jorge Soler’s walk-off homer on May 16 vs. WSH (also, Jean Segura RBI single on April 28 vs. CHC).

Miami is 16-4 (.800) in games decided by one run, the best such win pct. in the Majors. The second-best mark is Milwaukee (11-8, .727). The 20 one-run contests are the fourth-most among Major League teams. Miami started the year with a 12-0 record in one-run games, surpassing the 1972 New York Mets 11-0 stretch of one-run games, the most in MLB history.

Major League Baseball on Wednesday launched the 2023 All-Star Ballot for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, which will be held on Tuesday, July 11 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The Marlins’ nominees at their positions: Garrett Cooper (1B), Luis Arraez (2B), Jean Segura (3B), Jon Berti (SS), Jacob Stallings (C), Jorge Soler (DH), Bryan De La Cruz (OF), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (OF), and Avisail Garcia (OF). 2B Luis Arraez leads MLB with his .382 batting avg. (73×191) and a .437 OBP, and ranks 3rd with 73 hits. Also ranks tied for 3rd with 22 multi-hit games. Has struck out just 10 times in 210 PA (.047 K/PA), the lowest mark in MLB among qualified batters.
- Is the highest AVG through a player’s first 52 games to start a season since Cody Bellinger’s .383 AVG with the Dodgers in 2019.
- Only Dee Strange-Gordon (82 in 2015) has more hits for a Marlins player through his first 52 games of a season.

DH/OF Jorge Soler tied a franchise record with 12 home runs in the month of May, matching the mark set by Dan Uggla in 2008 and Giancarlo Stanton in 2012. Only one time in Marlins history has a player hit more homers in any month – Stanton, 18 HR in 2017. His 25 RBI in May tied the third-most in club history (also, Marcell Ozuna, 2016).
- Is tied for 3rd in MLB with 17 HR (trailing only Pete Alonso-20 and Aaron Judge-18).
HE’S HERE AND HE’S PERFECT
RHP Eury Perez has held his opponent to 3 earned runs or less in each of his first 4 career starts, becoming the eighth Marlins pitcher since 2010 to do so. Made his Major League debut on May 12 at 20 years and 27 days, becoming the youngest pitcher in Marlins’ history. The previous youngest pitcher was Jose Fernandez, who debuted at 20 years and 250 days. Became the second youngest player (position / pitcher) to debut with the Marlins in club history, behind only INF Edgar Renteria who debuted at 19 years and 277 days.

The Marlins will continue their 30th-anniversary celebration today as they host 1997 and 2003 World Series champion Jeff Conine, who will be available for pictures with fans in the Marlins Museum presented by Fanatics at 5:45 p.m. On Sunday, the first 8,000 fans will receive a special Jeff Conine Mystery Jersey presented by Norweigan Cruise Lines. Conine will join fans at the gates from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. to hand out giveaways.
