ZACH ATTACK: Zach McKinstry went 1×3 with a double in last night’s game. McKinstry has recorded an extra-base hit in three consecutive games, the second-longest streak of his career. McKinstry has hit safely in 12 of his last 15 games, over which he is batting .311/.396/.489 with a double, two triples, a homer and three RBI.
THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT: Parker Meadows continued the impressive start to his Major League career last night, finishing the game 3×4 with two RBI to record the first three-hit game of his career. Meadows has posted three multi-hit performances in his first eight big league games, over which he is batting .333/.438/.556 with a double, a triple, a home run and six RBI.
ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END: Kerry Carpenter had his career-best, 24-game on-base streak snapped last night, going 0x4. During the streak, which was the longest by a Tigers player since Jeimer Candelario had a 29-game streak from April 29-June 3, 2021, Carpenter hit .381/.447/.750 with four doubles, nine home runs and 19 RBI. Entering tonight’s game, Carpenter ranks tied for third among all Major League hitters with nine homers during August, while he is sixth in slugging percentage (.685) and 10th in batting average.
AT COMERICA PARK: The Tigers are 2-6 on their current 10-game homestand, which includes three games vs. Chicago (NL) (1-2), three games vs. Houston (1-2) and four games vs. New York (AL) (0-2).
